An hour for a toastie is too long and our 3 year old granddaughter kept asking where her jam sandwich was. However the menu has improved more each year and now there is alot to choose from and more tables to sit at, especially the tables near the toys if you have young children. The chicken, bacon and leek pie I would recommend along with an ice cream milkshake!. Also some looking cakes and puddings to sample. It's just a shame that the waiting can be awkward especially if you have young children. You don't like to complain but it probably would be an idea to inform people how long the wait is so they know what to expect. A combination of small issues made a disappointment, more effort was put into its appearance than it's taste, and it was only saved by lashings of the most delightful Jeyes Ketchup. It started when the toast was delivered to our table a good 5 minutes before the actual breakfast, so although it was well toasted with lashings of butter it was cold by the time we had food. Then the arrived; Each component of was a different temperature, the bacon was quite well but cold, and sat in the water that had come out of it as it was cooked. The beans were luke warm in a tiny bowl on the plate. The scrambled egg had clearly been in a microwave and was over and nuclear hot. The tomatoes were quite but needed seasoning and I really don't know how they'd the mushrooms to make them grey and lifeless as if from a tin, again lacking seasoning. The sausage was well cooked, but not of very high quality. Hash brown is usually to see with breakfast, but on this occasion it was tough and not crispy. So yeah overall it was a disappointment and using a microwave (we heard it ping multiple times) is a crime against a fry up. The were friendly, but not the most efficient, and I think the quality explains the almost empty dining room on a Saturday morning. We did have a coffee, and when we left we bought cake to take away which was pleasant, but I'm sure we were overcharged for it. I wouldn't return for breakfast, but maybe for coffee and a cake. A great and interesting place. Excellent food, and service, museum (!!!) and all sorts of stuff to buy. Oh, yes, and an utterly amazing Anglo- Saxon turriform church across the road. afternoon tea in a relaxed setting. Food was fresh and tasty and a selection of different things, and tailored to be gluten-free and lactose free. Beautiful crockery adds to the meal. All served quickly and with no fuss. There is also a gift and toy and a museum upstairs. Would recommend it to everyone. Overall the place wasn’t too bad, had to wait quite a while for food even though it wasn’t that busy. Food was ok and did the job but didn’t have that wow factor. Our first visit, with my wife, my brother and his wife. This was for belated birthdays for the two ladies. A place, great food, I had the steak and ale pie, and great service. Pricing was fair for the type of establishment. We shall return! I've been here twice now, I come across from Belfast to visit my Mum in Northampton. We came last year for my Mums 80th, and then again today, for my Mums 81st (every birthday is a blessing!). The food is really good tasty stuff, and there's a great selection. And it's flexible in how it's served. It's unpretentious and relaxed, and its real positive point is its staff. Lead from the front by Geraldine, all the staff, young and old, are kind, practical, friendly, and have more than an ounce of wit about them. Which sadly I think we know isn't always the case in the chain cafes.. Mum can only have puréed food and they were very obliging with the soup provided, although unexpectedly the chilli in the soup didn't suit mum (who has an oesophageal issue) - she loved the taste but it was too spicy. The saw the problem, and kindly offered a couple of alternatives and could not have been more helpful. Leaving Mum, and therefore her son (me) and daughter equally happy. I would unhesitatingly recommend this place if you either live locally (then you'll know it) or are just visiting. One point I would make is to pre-book, this place gets jam packed, especially at weekends and holidays! Only popped in for ice cream for the grandchildren. Ended up having an enjoyable coffee in the gardens. Will be returning very soon to an afternoon tea, with cakes. Its like the Tardis, small on outside, spacious and beautiful inside. From the moment we stepped through the door we were greeted with a warm welcoming smile, were shown to our table, asked if the room was warming enough. I ordered a latte and was so pleased to get a proper latte in a tall glass cup. There was such a good range of food to choose from. The food was and tasted homemade. Very well presented and tasty. Can't wait to go back and try something else from the menu. Highly recommended. I loved the traditional we received ❤ food, cosy atmosphere I'd never heard of this place before,but what a find. This little gem of an old building has a myriad of fascinating little rooms and has obviously been built up over many years with love and care. My personal favourite was the Kinky Boots display. After exploring we were able to enjoy coffee and a bite to eat and have a chat to the owners. A brilliant morning out especially enjoyed by my French companion. Visited Jeyes today for Afternoon Tea. There were 6 of us in our group and the food supplied was ample for us all, with a good selection of sandwiches, quiche, scones, cakes and sweet treats (we couldn't finish it all and the were more than happy to box it up for us to take home). One of our group is Gluten free and the had no issues catering to her needs. The tea room was nicely decorated, and very cosy. There is an outside area which looked and will be to sit out there in the summer. was efficient and we didn't feels rushed even though it was clearly busy. The attached is beautiful and well stocked with a variety of produce from local suppliers. Definitely worth a look around. place to and eat. Prices in the are on the higher side and I'm sure products could be found cheaper online, but they are beautifully presented and high street shopping deserves support. Food was homemade and deliciously wonderful and was friendly. The children's area was a delight and the exhibitions upstairs an added touch of joy. I approached the cafe counter and asked my granddaughter what she would like, she asked for sandwiches and a sausage roll and a drink, then whispered could she have ice-cream after. I had a tuna sandwich and decaf coffee after saying I'm not sure what to have as I can only have certain foods. Not at any point did the waitress say would you like a menu, I was looking at signs above to try and see what was on offer. This lunch came to over £28. It was only after this I saw another customer come in with two children, she had a menu. There was a childs meal which included all the things my granddaughter asked for for £8.95, I was charged double this without the ice-cream because I was unaware of the meal deal. I was very disappointed that I wasn't offered the meal deal when ordering for my granddaughter, the waitress did ask if it was for a child so she was aware. I guess they just wanted to get more money out of an unaware customer. This has put me off going back, which is a shame because my granddaughter said it was her favourite place. Absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming....as are the staff. And the fabulous museum really is the icing on the cake. Myself with a group of 14 ladies spent a time in the garden room eating, chatting and laughing. The was and the food delicious. A wander around the and museum was an added bonus. The only downside was parking, but that’s often the case in small towns and villages. Looking forward to visiting again. For my sins I have never used the cafe. However, I do use the pharmacy on a regular basis. is always friendly, fast and efficient and I am sure one day they will remember my name :) The text notification I now receive when my prescription is ready is so helpful. Came here for afternoon tea as part of a baby shower and the were so and worked around us. They accomodated for dietary needs also. My only suggestion is that the scones had raisins in and it would be if there was an option for plain scones Love Jeyes or go to plave when we have visitors to it village they all love it especially the moon garden We were in early in the morning and noticed only one cheese scone left so I asked if it was freshly made this morning s was told yes.
