On right as you get to top of hill on minor road. Great views across the sea. Inner and outer circle. Walked from Bardsea village to this stone , nice walk with some steep parts taking you up to the field , not sign posted at all so had to ask a local in his garden for directions which he very kindly gave us. The stone itself is not very big, but the views when you reach the top on your way to the are worth the walk on their own and the is worth a visit. Fantastic views and great warks around the area Magical place with stunning views. Nice to see, there are other rings in the area too. If you are interested in these rings, then yes, it's worth the effort to come and visit. Nothing else in the area though, we'll a nice forest close by that's worth a walk. And dog friendly, but sheep around so please keep them on a lead. Such a cool historical site. We parked down by the little village where Google maps takes you then walked up less than a mile. You can get to it easier from the road as there is a small lay by to park. Great little hike and history. We decided to visit on the way back to Kendal from Barrow. Google maps directed us to a lane with a warning sign, no Vehicle Access to Birkrigg Stone Circle. We turned back to the coastal road to find a different route and found one after the entrance to an Alpaca Farm, but the lane was very narrow with no passing bays in sight, and we didn't fancy it. According to Google it was a 30 minutes walk up from parking bay we'd pulled into opposite the turn off and he kids weren't keen.
