At the of enrolment for my son’s second year we had numerous confirmations emails that he had a place! Emails stating what he needed to purchase but come the end of summer holidays they never sent start date email. When emailed we was told he had no place and was on a waiting list in case drop out!!! I would avoid this place at all costs as it’s poorly run and leaves at the last minute with no coarse! Horrid responses on emails basically saying class size was too big so dropped to keep it safe! Useless is all I can say as I’m trying to be polite! We would not recommend this school. At the of enrolment, we were assured that our child would be able to pursue the chosen A level subjects. Unfortunately, it turned out that the selected subjects could not be taken, and our child was told to choose different ones instead. do not select their subjects in order to have to change them later. The school should not make promises it cannot keep, as this places in a very difficult position. Such handling of the matter reflects poorly on the school and its commitment to prospective students. if you want the worst of your life, you're in the right place! Northampton is well known for rude teachers, very old classrooms and equipment, not to mention the constantly locked bathrooms. if you're looking to gain 5 different mental illnesses and health issues, Northampton is the right place for you Was horrendously bullied by a "teacher" in the drama named Helen during my here. I was 16 and newly living in a halfway house due to being removed from an abusive home. I would take a 45 minute bus every day, yet she would give me an instant disciplinary if a bus was late, pulled me from tour because I had an emergency dentist appointment (my face was visibly twice it's usual size), one she tried to goad me in front of the whole class and I didn't react, so she disciplined me for 'looking at her funny'. You can't make this up! What's more there was a girl in my class named Lauren who she adored and would give a free pass for missing days often. Lauren and I were friends so there's no resentment towards her. Shockingly, she was backed up by head of Julie, who as office never took an interest in any student, and not one of them ever sat me down and asked if I was okay. I went to a disciplinary with the two of them alone (no parents remember) and cried my eyes out about how I felt Helen had a personal problem with me, and was told I was being dramatic. Looking back on this now, that disciplinary should NEVER have happened without me having an adult with me. I'd actually explained my situation to Helen on the very first day, but she just glanced down at my nails (my boyfriend had treated me for my birthday as I'd never had them done before) and threw me a look as if to imply I was lying. I think that was probably the catalyst. I have since went on to study drama in London at university and ended up travelling the world after that, so her attempts to derail me were futile, but I feel for anyone else that was bullied under her care, teenages are still children after all, this woman should be ashamed, and Julie too for letting her behave the way she did/does. I have no doubt she had other victims before and after me, and I can't imagine how their esteem was affected. I reported my for inappropriate sexual and pedophillic comments and behaviour but it was swept under the rug as he was leaving at the end of the term. Absolutely loving my course and in the evening. A big shout out to the construction team 6-9pm. From C.mace One of the worst places to work in the history of employment! I was a member who gave them everything including blood, sweat and tears...they mistreated me for my disabilities, no for the neurodiversity and absolutely no empathy or compassion. After two years of hell and a tribunal case against them, the cowards backed off and gave me some money but it's still not enough to cover the mental health issues and trauma caused by them:/ It’s alright, I mean personally my have no structure to their lessons which i find annoying. My course is pretty standard although the content is actually interesting the way it’s delivered is boring. Honestly, I can’t see myself getting grades that are actually that because it’s so boring that it’s hard to stay engaged if it’s just my going on and on. The buses are actually hell from like 3-4pm, you get shoved into the bus all the time. Why do so many end at the same time…it just makes it worse. That’s like my main problem with the to be honest. Yeah the is pretty standard to be fair, the campus has basically everything a needs. The vending machines are lowkey so expensive though… The here have a tough job, whereby there are some who want to learn, but many are there not by choice - and this is a challenge. I would like to call out Melanie Collins, who is a tenacious professional who is unwavering in here efforts to get it right and serve the who want to learn. She is a credit to the college, and her profession. I'd only recommend this to who don't have much more choice. There are some benefits here, such as the food is quite albeit expensive, low entry requirements and in my experience, great teachers. But the management can be flawed. It isn't able to handle changes even over the period of a year, I submitted a complaint about a member and was brought into a meeting with that member sat in the room, alongside a senior member who I was meant to talk to. It feels like the higher ups are too busy feeding their ego and patting each other on the back rather than doing their jobs or bringing change for the better of the / teachers. Due to this, an entire year of the course I had partaken in had a lot of ups and downs, with new hires sorted out in the middle of the year, content all over the place, assignments given out in bursts with shorter deadlines, and lessons not being taught with timing. In the end I think most were able to overcome this change, but being Autistic made it a lot more difficult. On the topic of that, the mental health is a very mixed bag, as I knew who had access to quite often, whereas seeking it out I was left on read for months, even with check ups to the library I don't think I ever had one meeting regarding this. A lot of my experience was quite dismal due to the inexperienced management in the I studied in, where the more senior non-management (tutors, and such) had both better ideas, and brighter opinions in the eyes of most of the students. The and (most) of the in my course are the only real reason I gave this a two star. It's really down to luck whether you get a class or not, whether your are at teaching, which in my case, most of them were very at teaching and making reasonable adjustments / amendments to coursework where they actually want to see their do the best they could in their modules. I am glad I finished my course here however, I managed to finish with high grades and have made some friends along the way. constantly took the p*** with assignments as they wouldn't speak with each other and expect you to focus on their work specifically over everyone else's when you needed all of it to complete the course. were extremely unorganized throughout the two years I was here to the point they didn't even know what was going on themselves half the or where some of the resources they needed to teach us were. huge lack of communication between as they would tell you one thing and then you would get told the opposite two days later. facilities constantly stank of urine and had vaping in them or vandalizing them. canteen was an absolute rip off. had to complain about a at one point because they pushed me outside the classroom because i took a phone call to my mum which i got told i could take. My experience at Northampton was disgraceful. They treat victims as perpetrators and punish victims in fights. The are rude and never on the same page and the are genuinely horrible. this place sucks man don’t go, everything they do is for the comfort and they don’t care about you at all. My mental health has suffered greatly. Also I’ve barely learnt anything and I think it would have been more useful to just get a job Edit: also I applied for level 2 psych and they moved me up to level 3 because of my grades. It is way too intense for me and I’m failing because they moved me up without my consent. All of it is just copying from PowerPoints and writing massive essays.. I hate it so much. Most of the are uni that don’t have any passion and only care about how your grades are making them look. The have absolutely no empathy, do not talk to each other, do not put half the stuff on teams that they say they will and they’ll do everything they can to avoid accountability. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go to uni in 2023 so I decided to do the foundation diploma in art and design (as it’s free for under 19s) and because I’d heard a lot of positive comments about this course. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I found out that this course used to be run by the university rather than college, was better funded and more applied to it. Compared the the 100+ who used to be on this course there were 13 on mine most of which didn’t turn up (understandably so) The art did not provide us with a base room so we had to carry our work everywhere, considering I live 45 minutes away, if I forgot something I couldn’t just ask to pop home and grab it. Most of the were unenthusiastic, overly critical and disengaged with work and would spend whole lessons on Facebook on their laptops. I felt intimidated to as for help or to use certain facilities because were not accommodating. I know this course is meant to prepare you for university, yet I can’t help but think their detached teaching style is not representative of university methods. If you are 19+ do not waste £9000 on this course. This year made me so uncomfortable and anxious, the only thing about this is the pastoral and futures team they provide, probably to compensate for the stress they cause you and to get you to leave as soon as possible. The facilities on the course I will admit were better than my sixth form (which isn’t a massive achievement) and the provision of laptops (which are very slow) did allow me to use photoshop and other adobe programmes. The use of which I taught myself without much input from staff. If you are unsure about going to uni there are much better options than this course. Don’t go to this college. They’re awful with that have physical disabilities or need extra support. They treated me very badly and basically pushed me out of the college. I went for a meeting for another course and they were horrible to me and said that i’m not suitable for the course due to my mental health problems. They don’t really care about wellbeing and the teaching isn’t great. couldn't be much worse to be honest the one part is that a couple of my were okay, particularly my form tutor who was an actual gem of a person other than those few exceptions though, most seem to just not care. some would barely explain the fundamentals of the topics, some would just breeze through all the bullet points of a topic with zero elaboration, and expect us to somehow understand. often they have zero flexability with the assignments, there were multiple occasions where a expected me to include things that i had never been told i needed to include, and even at least one where my assignment was being rejected literally due to how i had formatted the document. the in my class were also mostly terrible, openly admitting to being racist and homophobic, and one person was openly recounting how they were telling a trans girl to kill herself (all of this being well in earshot of a teacher, who obviously blissfully ignored everything, which was of course a very comforting sign as an lgbt student myself). on the topic of lgbt+ students, there is no additional support, not even a basic social club or anything. the closest thing they have is a small ✨️ gay books ✨️ shelf in the library. though to be fair, this lack of is hardly surprising given what i've heard from disabled people's accounts of the place. also, my head of can genuinely only be succinctly described by one word, which i'm probably not allowed to use here, so to describe her un-succinctly, she was incredibly vindictive, completely unsupportive, and almost actively discouraging at times. she'd refuse to address any of my problems and would just insist that she is correct - in the way that you just know she thinks she is perfect - and has literally zero room for accommodation of anyone else's ideas. there were even occasions where a vast majority of my agreed that what she was saying was illogical or counterintuitive, but since her word is final i imagine they've all accepted that her tyrannical ego is the only thing that actually matters in their department. the fact that she has a job as a head of should honstly be taken as an insult to every seeking promotions in this school. the final nail in the coffin for me realising how terrible this school is, is when i was removed from my course - albiet, on a fair basis - and they didnt inform me until *one week* before we came back for the second year. it was even I who had to reach out to them regarding whether i'd be returning, as i'd noted weird behaviour in their automated emails that didnt make sense to be sending to returning students, and i dont feel like i should have to explain why only telling a student they have been removed after THEY ASK YOU is terrible management, particularly given i'd had tell me prior that there was nothing to worry about, and that I should be returning. there are also many, many other problems with this college, but I would like to still have some of the essays I wrote for them be longer than this review lol. overall, this place is genuinely terrible, and would likely have far far fewer if it wasnt for a severe lack of well-known alternatives in the northampton area. if you have an alternative option, then id STRONGLY recommend taking it. (rant over) Worst by far, the reason I say this is my experience was terrible. I was there for 3 years, my mental health has deteriorated so much so I now go to therapy every Friday. The did nothing but complain about how they hate us and there job didn't seem trained at all and I'm still in disbelief. The also prefer to use A.I to write there work for them but this is not all but a large amount this should be investigated upon. but over hearing a being happy that 2 where being withdrawn from the and laughed and joked about it. would you say that's professional ? Whenever i enter the toilets at any of the day in the there will 100% be someone smoking, there are no suitable smoking places for that are 18 and smoke. The use the entrances as smoking areas and makes the look very unprofessional. Whoever plans the timetables should be binned off it’s a disgrace hundreds of kids finishing their days at the same time. It’s like last person standing when doing something simple as such as getting on a bus. It’s a disgrace. Full of false promises too. I’d really recommend giving it a miss.
