The is a place to be when you are on Kalymnos, since Saint Savvas is a very powerful saint, you will see it with the thanksgivings of people in the room close to Saint Savva's monk's cell. Very very touching and impressive. You can also go up by car and drive to the if you have any mobility issues. Dort muss man gewesen sein. Offen und nicht verbohrt. Die Anlage war top und man durfte fast überall hinein. Von der Aussicht ganz zu schweigen. We walked up in flip flops from the harbour - it was slippery but doable but you really need good footwear. I nearly gave up half way up but so glad I didnt as both the monestry and the views from the top were breathtaking and stunning! The monestry is a magical place and to see St Savvas in his coffin was heart warming. The whole monestry had a feeling of peace, calm and wellbeing. Amazing and magical in every way and free to look round (just wear good footwear if walking up!). Just awesome, the walk up there is a pilgrimage, especially if you do it from Panormos🥴🤣🤣🤣,actually only 7 km but it comes with uphill/downhill on a hot day in June, so it took longer than expectedl😇. Up there, only staff was there cleaning altar utensils, so it was really nice after the long walk, just sitting there and chatting a bit Monastery is wonderful, you can see the monk's cell of Saint Savvas and lots of relics. Also how people asked for protection from the Saint and thanked for healing and good work life, offering their crutches and captain's hats. Very touching experience. Very friendly nuns there. And breathtaking view, especially if you walk up🤣. Come early in the morning, watch the opening times( closes at 1pm to 4pm!!!), You have the for you alone. 100% recommended👍❤️ A up in the hills just from Pothia, it's a very religious for the people of Greece in which they come on a pilgrimage to visit, it has a very important saint there (Saint Savvas) which you can place your blessing to, the has the most beautiful church and lovely well looked after grounds. It was a good walk up the hill to get there but it is definitely worth visiting especially if you are seeking some kind of calming divine aura in life, maybe from the passing of loved ones or just seeking spiritual peace with ones self. On the high hills of Kalymnos where taste the best panorama on the city. Every time you’ll go you’ll find a greek ceremony! In late 2015, we were rescued by coastal rescue ships. We waited here on the coast for three days. I currently live in Germany.Thank God.🙏It was a dangerous journey. Excellent and reverent experience Amazing Greek Orthodox monastery Fantastic view of Kalymnos from above. Ένα από τα πολλά αξιοθέατα της Καλύμνου...! This is one of the most beautiful Clean holy places I have ever been. You don’t have to pay to enter. Amazing views and well kept convent Tough walk up but amazing views and beautiful church. Unfortunately we made it up there at 1pm when the closes at the moment! Thankfully the caretaker let us take a quick look inside but the Google opening times are wrong!
