The show I attended was great, the has great significance for the city, it is definitely worth seeing the shows. Exceptional interpretation! Such a history in this from 1906. The authorities have an obligation and a legal responsibility towards the new generation to invest in the consolidation ASAP. The guided tour is both in Romanian and in English. The tour is on weekly basis, each Friday at 3pm. Ticket cost: 15 ron/3 EUR. The Opera has some very good plays and they usually have well known guests to fill in the more prestigious roles, such as Turandot or Rigoletto. Since they usually have only one representation of each of the operas during a season, it's advisable to get tickets well in advance. The theatre was built between 1904 and 1906 by the Austrian architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer, who designed several theatres and palaces across Europe in the late 19th and early 20th century, including the theatres in Iași, Oradea, Timișoara, and Chernivtsi (Romanian: Cernăuți). The project was financed using only private capital: Sandor Ujfalfy bequeathed his domains and estates from Szolnok-Doboka County to the National Theatre Fund from Kolozsvár. The theatre opened on 8 September 1906 with Ferenc Herczeg's Bujdosók. Until 1919, as Cluj was part of the Kingdom of Hungary, it was home to the local Hungarian National Theatre (Hungarian: Nemzeti Színház). The last performance of the Hungarian troupe was Shakespeare's Hamlet, September 30, 1919. Always a nice place to go to, even if you don't have enough space for your legs:) and always full house, that's good :) Beautiful architecture, great atmosphere inside that suits best all the great classical plays. If buying tickets for a show, keep in mind that main hall is not as big as you might think - tickets in 3rd and 4th row on either side still feel like front-row seats at some other venues. Also research on the website when you book, as many shows also have subtitles, which are displayed above the scene and easy to read. Amazing, however they need to turn up the sound of actors playing. I get it that they don't all have microphones but it's a big place they should implement a better sound system for the higher seats or back seats. Uncomfortable chairs, been to a lot of shows and its either too much or too little intermission , dont recommend going in the summer because its excruciatingly hot, dont bring drinks or food inside because theyre not allowed Beautiful opera, the build and sound acustica are great! It's overall pretty clean, and the staff is friendly and ready to help. Nice program, with a variety of different shows. 😁🎭 The most beautiful in Cluj-Napoca. Totally worth visiting, especially in the winter season because it is nicely decorated.👍🏻 The theatre tickets are quite cheap. There are discounts for students, seniors and kids but you can’t buy discounted tickets online. The ticket office is across the street. Kinda old looking around the edges (and i mean old, not vintage). And the chairs are unbelievably uncomfortable 😑😑 the most beautiful in Cluj. i recommend it dearly; recently went to a ballet performance and it was riveting. Foarte frumos, fiecare spectacol la care am fost a fost incredibil, cladirea mi se pare foarte frumoasa si e o experienta de neuitat de fiecare data cand mergem acolo. Place is old and needs restoration but the audio experience is very good. A historical little jewel at the heart of Cluj. I hope they will receive funding to restore the building, as it is such a beautiful heritage to the city and music in general.
