We stopped on the way to Monastery Ostrog - a narrow road without a fence or well-maintained banks, just for nerves - nice to park, a nice and an excellent lunch according to the advice of the waiter. Our first impression was that the was quite dark inside - yes, it has a terrace with a beautiful view, but it was a scorching hot day and we preferred a cooler place to sit. When we came in, 2 of the waiters were sitting at one of the tables, one of them was on his phone, and the other was doing something (maybe folding napkins?). They weren't particularly friendly but not directly rude either. They just pointed to the other side of the speaking Montenegrin (which we don't understand), so we just walked in that direction and found ourselves a table. Another waiter was taking payment from the only other table that was occupied. Then he gave us the menu. I wanted the tripe, but they don't have it - which is fine. My husband ordered ember-grilled beef steak and I ordered ember-grilled eel, as they don't indicate if they come with side dishes, we ordered 3 different side dishes: french fries, stewed rice, and vegetables. The waiter specifically asked how my husband wanted the steak, and he answered medium raw. To make a clear point of why we would advise you to avoid this restaurant: 1. As we were waiting for our food, flies flying around the table which only got worse when we got our food. The flies probably enjoyed the food more than we di 2. Both dishes that were supposed to be ember were never but pan-fried. See the pictures and judge for yourself. 3. The presentation of the main dishes was kind of... sad. With dried cucumber and carrots as garnish. 4. The eel was a bit fishy but edible. The bigger piece has a weird texture - kind of when a fish is not properly cooked, but again they are edible. 5. The worst was the beef steak. First, it was not medium raw, but well done. However, my husband is not picky about the doneness of his steak, so he went ahead and ate it without complaining. BUT, after a couple of bites, he started to question if the beef was OK, as he started to get queasy. I took a piece and smelled the beef, and it was borderline bad. It was not fresh at all. I suspect that is why they cooked the hell out of it in the hope of masking the deterioration. He left the rest uneaten. 6. The best of all this fiasco were the side dishes. The fries (though not homemade) was good, stewed rice tastes even though they are very watery and soft (unsure if they maybe supposed to be like that), and the vegetables(though doubtfully grilled) is OK, will expect a different texture if they are truly grilled. So, drive on, and find some other place to eat after your trip up and down the steps at Ostrog Monastery, you deserve better! Beautiful views and generally food and service. The prices are maybe a bit higher because of the location, but it definitely didn't feel like a ripoff tourist trap. The food was very but it took a very long time for waiters to approach us. The food was mediocre. If you don’t have time and you really hungry you can stop by. The was nice. The prices was a bit higher then in other places. Naručili smo meso, ali je imalo jak miris i ukus ribe, što je bilo veoma neprijatno i jasno ukazuje na lošu pripremu ili kontaminaciju u kuhinji. The squid was tasteless, not even but steamed and a bit cold, it came with endive, which wasn’t on the menu. It does not go well with squid in my opinion. The vegetables were drenched in oil and because of that it tasted pretty sour. The next morning I felt nauseous and had to spent an hour on the toilet. The views were nice but it does not add up for the food.
