Delightful ride on steam train run by volunteers. Plenty of parking, small shop & cafe on site. Not a long journey but very enjoyable. Reasonably priced - best to buy tickets in advance. Wouldn’t bother with first class - standard is far more comfy! Although the weather was poor with heavy rain and misty conditions, we enjoyed an excellent day on an immaculate coach. The journey behind the heritage class 31 diesel was pleasant and plenty to see out of the window. The shop was well stocked with books, oo gauge model railway and toys for children. We also visited the cafe, and although we only had teas and coffee, the surroundings were very pleasant with lots of railway items. The staff all day were very friendly. Would highly recommend a visit. Looks like buildings site could be lovely when finished Amazing experience, so scary! The kids love it....but.... the kids after party has now been removed from the package but remains the same price. The kids cried all the way home , they love the disco singing ladies!! Highly recommend, its all run by volunteers who do a fantastic job. All the engines are impeccable, Volunteers are friendly and tje cafe / shop is a bonus. Went on the ghost train tonight. You know I am not easily pleased but I haven't shut up about tonight. Unfortunately it was raining but I had a great time and the atmosphere was magical. Everyone had photos with us, and the hocas pokus cast signing . The way you done the layout. The trains and everything was great and for £12 ...... All day long. I was that impressed I haven't shut up about it. Thank you for the laughter and everyone is doing a fab job. You should be proud. Next year however, I want to dress up and join the crew The journey itself is quite short, but the effort and enthusiasm put into the Halloween Specials was memorable for parents, children and (I reckon) the assorted cast of ghostly ghouls on the train. Engines at both ends, coffee and burger cans in the car park, and plenty of appropriate lighting. It must take a lot of people to make it what it is. Great time at Blaenavon Railway where we took a trip on the steam train ‘Jessie’ for a fish and chip lunch on an organised trip.
