Overall a experience, from booking up to the event they kept in touch via email. On arrival we were greeted warmly by Alan and told us about the event,we went into a room for a talk while we waited for the skies to and for them to set up the equipment. After 20 minutes we went outside to skies and an opportunity to view various planets and deep sky objects,a viewing with lots of knowledge to digest with plenty of WOW moments. Our only disappointment was the lack of facilities for a hot drink and the fact we didn’t finish the talk as we finished the session 30 minutes earlier than expected so we only had One and a half hours instead of Two but happy with the night, hence I’m only giving 4 not 5. Would probably do it again and would recommend to anyone with interest in the sky. Clive. A very memorable for us! We eventually got around to using our vouchers which I purchased a fair while ago. The forecast was cloudy, so on arrival we had a brief glance at the moon and Venus before the cloud rolled over, so it was into the warm room for our first talk with Steve. It was such an interesting talk and given - with alot of knowledge and passion. Steve then swapped with Allan for our second talk, and about half an hour into that Steve came in and announced the skies had cleared so we went outside to finish off. It was beautifully clear, allowing Allan and Steve to show us what they had been speaking about. There were only 2 set up as the forecast had shown only cloud, so star gazing wasn't expected, but this was enough between the amount of people. We went between the two, being shown different things. We saw different plants, star clusters, etc. It was a really and we had the best of both, having had wonderful, informative talks and also a amount of time spent out side star gazing. Even if the weather hadn't been on our side, both me and my dad said we would have been really pleased with the talks given. Allan & Steve were both friendly and chatty, and gave us a wonderful experience. Thanks Dark Sky Wales! This was a birthday gift to my boyfriend and we travelled all the way from London for it. I can definitely say it was worth the 4+ hrs drive, this was truly an amazing night! The weather was not amazing and the sky was a bit cloudy, but Allan and Steven were wonderful and were able to make the most of the time we had to look at the stars. I would definitely recommend this! We had a fantastic stargazing with my daughters — a really special and memorable evening. Allan and Steve were excellent hosts: friendly, knowledgeable, and brilliant at engaging both adults and children. They created a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and made the whole enjoyable from start to finish. One of the highlights was viewing the sun through a telescope before sunset — a fascinating and unique moment we’d never experienced before. A truly brilliant that sparked curiosity and left us all smiling. Highly recommended for families and anyone with an interest in the sky! We had such a lovely here. It was a little cloudy but not enough to ruin our experience, and the wind was on our side to move the clouds quickly. The tour guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and were constantly pointing out different parts of the sky, and telling facts and stories. They were eager to answer any questions that we had, too. There were three set up and they had them all pointing at different things, and they would change them to look at different and galaxies throughout the evening. We loved that we had the opportunity to see lots of different stuff - including the rings around Saturn! There was a big group of people, so there was a short queue for each telescope, but we didn’t mind a little wait each time, because it gave us the chance to relax and enjoy the sky in between. Thank you for this, it was the perfect date night! We were at the mercy of the British weather and unfortunately it didn’t play ball on the we had picked well in advance (as we incorporated it as part of our holiday to Wales). Nonetheless, we received 2 hours of engaging educational talks and advice on how to get started with watching the sky (as complete beginners). I hope to take this knowledge away with me and give it a go when we get a back home. As a goodwill gesture we were offered a discount to come back and try again, unfortunately we are 3.5hrs away so won’t be able to rush back but would definitely consider this if we are in the area again and the skies are looking clearer. Thank you! Brilliant on a with the Milky Way in view. The began by navigating through some of the and the myths behind them. We then able to tour the sky through a series of expertly set to view planets, nebula and galaxies. Thanks to Allan and his colleague who were both friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Alan and his family made this exceptional for my husband and I, we had a couples star gazing experience. Their knowledge is fascinating and we really enjoyed having sole use of the and taking amazing photos. Would thoroughly recommend. Very Disappointing – Not Worth the Trip or the 1 star I’ve given. We booked this stargazing with high hopes and were left extremely disappointed. It was cloudy at the start, and I understand that weather can’t be controlled, but we were reassured and told it was still worth making the 4-hour journey with our young daughter. On arrival, we were told it was too cloudy at present and were given a presentation instead. Fair enough—but we were also told multiple times that if the sky cleared, the were ready, and we’d be taken out immediately. That never happened. At around midnight, we stepped outside to find a perfectly sky full of stars. We stood there for at least 10-15 minutes with staff who were supposedly monitoring the sky, yet no effort was made to set up equipment or alert anyone inside. The staff even said ‘’The problem is if we say we’ve got stars, you’ll all come outside’’ – Yes that’s what we have paid for! The opportunity was completely missed. We paid for a stargazing and were promised that getting outside to see the was the goal. When the finally appeared, the staff simply didn’t follow through. It felt like they had given up on the evening, even when we still have 40 minutes left and plenty of time. This was not just a waste of money—it was a waste of time and excitement, especially for our daughter. At the very least, scopes should be set up in advance and staff should be proactive. Sadly, this felt more like a box-ticking exercise than a genuine experience. They have zero intention of allowing you a full that is sold to you. You are crammed in a small room, no refreshments and talked at for 2 hours. Would not recommend. Please research properly and spend your money wisely. We undertook an eight-hour round trip and were let down not by nature, but by the organisation and delivery of the team and event. Amazing stargazing experience, with very speakers and equipment. Plenty of opportunity to learn and time with the telescopes, even with a busy group. In terms of access, it's a main road up until the last lane and plenty of parking, with a toilet on site. Highly recommended. An absolutely amazing with two amazing guides. Didn’t know what to really expect and it thoroughly exceeded our expectations. Lots of really interesting information about some of the constellations, that alone was excellent. Be able to see various plants and was magical. Would definitely love to do it again! We really enjoyed our with dark skies. The hosts were extremely and welcoming. The guy leading the event pointed out various constellations, stars, nebulas and galaxies. They made sure everyone had a chance to see what they had trained the on and there were plenty of different interesting celestial objects to view through them-seeing Saturn with its rings was particularly cool. Whether you’re just curious about the sky like us, or starting to take a more serious interest in astronomy, I would highly recommend this with this friendly and helpful team. Although the two hosts were informative and helpful, the event had far too many people. There were upwards of 30 attendees and only three telescopes. The queues for them were long and we only managed to look at three objects. This was a pity as the skies were generally clear. It would have been much better with fewer people - I would suggest 15 at the very most. In all we felt as if we did not get value for money, and we had travelled 260 miles to get there! Absolutely amazing experience!!! I took my 9 year old daughter who is a space fan and she absolutely loved it. Her first time seeing the Milky Way and an she will never forget. Allan is an excellent host and an expert in his field and explains complex things clearly so everyone understands. We had a perfect weather wise and even saw a few meteors. I would highly recommend booking this. We look forward to coming back in the winter to see the planets! Thank you 🫶 Ps I even enjoyed the stories and dad jokes 😂 Unfortunately there was too much cloud cover and so we were given a couple of talks, one about interstellar objects and the other about constellations, and the original mythology behind them, and how to locate objects in the sky. Both talks were brilliant, Allan and his colleague (I’m sorry we forget his name) were very and enthusiastic about the subject matter, and gave a very engaging talk. We travelled from Wiltshire and even though we didn’t get in any star gazing, it was still worth the trip, we had a really night. We will be rebooking in the new year and bringing family with us for the experience, fingers crossed for a night! A very enjoyable and my husband and I learned a lot during our 2 hour session. We look up at the sky with new eyes now and try to remember the and we were shown. Allan and co were very informative, with everything explained and questions answered. So exciting to look through the and see stars, nebulae, and even Saturn with its rings. Well worth walking around a field on a cold Sunday night! Remember to wrap up warm. We had the most AMAZING and lucky with the weather, after waiting for 3 years for it to go ahead, due to bad weather for previous years we'd booked. Allan's knowledge is ASTOUNDING and we learnt so much!! He was funny and entertaining too. I'm sorry I don't remember the other person's name, think it might have been Kieran, and he also was really and both were so accommodating to ensure we all got a good view through the telescopes. We also loved the talk at the beginning, using a laser torch to show various stars, along with entertaining stories!! Thank you so much both! Would highly recommend!! We had a brilliant - Allan was extremely and made the session interesting and informative - we learnt a lot. We were lucky that the weather was perfect - cold and frosty with an amazingly sky. The gave such views of a variety of and planets. Had a with Allan, learning to use my telescope. Having not been able to even find the moon at in the garden before the session, I now feel much more confident in what I need to do to get my telescope properly set up and how to use it. It was lovely to be able to see Jupiter with its 4 moons and seeing the detail on the moon through my telescope. We had previously done the group stargazing experience, so the two sessions combined have considerably increased my knowledge and understanding. Would definitely recommend. Had a fantastic at Dark Skies Wales. The knowledge and expertise of our guides was superb. Various stars, planets and were pointed out and explained. We also had the opportunity to view stars, planets and other galaxies through incredible telescopes. Seeing Jupiter with some of its moons was absolutely incredible! Thank you so much to Allan Trow and team. A brilliant evening! We finally got to use our family voucher which our daughters had given us a fair while ago. Allan was very helpful and flexible in when we could use the voucher. It paid off as we were very lucky with gloriously skies. Allan and his team were hugely and we were rewarded with fine views through the telescope of Jupiter, Mars and the amazing Orion Nebula amongst several others. It was a cold early March (Allan said one of the coldest they'd had this year) but we had wrapped up warm and didn't really notice it at all. Thanks to Allan and team for a very inspiring and mind-opening evening!!
