What an experience, it was like walking on the top of the world. We had of the Bwlch on one side and then the Rhigos on the other. It was tremendous to see Pen Pych main waterfall in the distance, Pen Y Fan, Llanwonno Summit, Pen Rhys, Pen Y Fan, Corn Ddu and Cribyn. Well worth a visit 😀 An enjoyable car ride up a winding road brings you to Bwlch mountain, where there's a small parking area overlooking the mountains around and in the distance, the town of Treorchy. If you walk through a gate and up a gravel footpath, you have of the other side of the mountain, of the Afan Valley. The only downside for me and my dog, was the off road motorbikes that raced up behind us on the gravel footpath. However, all in all, it is a wonderful area with fantastic views. Wow, what a cracking view. Well worth a visit if nearby. The road is great too. Stunning on any day, rain or shine. The viewpoint looking straight down the barrel of the valley is really something to see. There's always plenty of animals here that come to say hello and are happy to keep still for a photo. Do be aware it can be absolutely biting cold up here in cooler weather, so do dress appropriately, especially if you're bringing younger children or grandparents/mums/dad's etc. There is limited parking available and also an ice van which leaves early afternoon. If you have a camera, bring it - you won't be disappointed This place offers a stunning view. A very calm and peaceful place. There is always an ice truck over here. Sometimes windy The driving up here are amazing, it’s like being a bird you’re so high up! Ample parking, just dodge the inquisitive sheep. They will watch you eat and stare out your dogs, but I managed to stroke my newest butty on the nose. 🐑 There's an ice van up there for your treats and coffee, for days, and a few hiking routes with wind turbines in every direction, don't stay too long they'll make you dizzy! A few bikers enjoying the steep ramps. Interesting place. I absolutely love to stop at the Bwlch car park on our journey to the Rhondda Valley to visit my relatives. The of the valley is absolutely and breathtaking. There's usually friendly sheep roaming about. If you are lucky there might be an ice van selling fabulous ice cornets with a flake for £3.50. cheapest ice I've ever bought for ages and top quality. Not a lot there... Except an of the Rhondda and mountain tops. The green, green grass of home. Land of my fatelhers... Literally. Also, some very friendly sheep that are not shy, will try and get in your car, and look for snacks! But please, do not feed them, unless it's animal feed that they can eat! Always worth a detour to drive up over the Bwlch, feed the (aggressive) sheep a carrot or three, and have a delicious ice from the famous ice truck and its happy and friendly owner. There’s even a couple of walk trails to do from here although watch out for steep drops and boggy areas. Parking can be a bit tricky especially with passing traffic but worth it. I love Wales and wallets. Really beautiful drive top of the mountain and stop there. Every corner have parking places and very tasty icecream and local biscuits can buy there. So it's really Great for hikes, walks and bikes 🚴 Absolutely lovely people 💞💐 Stunning place .. the roads are but very risky so driving fast can be dangerous ,as an attraction it is stunning for Fantastic absolutely stunning Absolutely stunning in south Wales. Gorgeous roads to ride or drive, with welsh cakes at the top of the point. Outstanding view, very calm. The only problem is the amount of trash on the floor, there’s no bin so people litter everywhere… Absolutely alone , plenty of walks about also . Feed the sheep take pictures watch the hand gliders or motorbikes cars and mad people cycling up it lol . Great coffee shop also What a place. The are insane. Great for walking the dogs. Though be mindful it’s a perfect place to go for a ride on dirt bikes so do keep an eye out for your dog. Couple of car parks around. Not a huge amount of spaces but if one is full there’s another around the corner. Stunning all year round.
