I felt like Lawrence of Arabia. I can understand why some of the film was made hear, it was somewhat challenging in some bits, especially the big dipper, but loved the challenge. There are also stunning views of Ogmore by sea and orchids and other wild flowers. Well worth a visit It was a nice experience to explore merthyr mawr nature reserve ,its nice place to have dog walk, horse riding and day out with family. Need to pay at the car ,or you can pay by phone or Ring go app. Whole day parking forn£5 Site not allow camping or tenting. Toilet facility near to the car park. Horse riding needs permit or membership and needs to display it while you riding. We visited on a bank holiday. We arrived in the middle of the day and stayed for 2 hours, thinking that would be enough time. We didn't make it to the and back in that time. If I visited again I'd pay for the full day, we just felt £5 for parking was a bit much as it went from 2 hours to all day. We'd have benefited from more staggered parking options. There are a couple of that some people were sledging down while we were there (or attempting to). It was a sunny but not hot day, so there were some beautifully clear views to the across the dunes. It was stunning we saw some birds of prey hoovering above. Paths are larger than some other similar nature reserves. As you'd expect with dunes, there are loads of hills to navigate). Signage was a bit confusing from the car (to head to the you need to find the double bins to the left of the nature reserve sign - see photos for sign - then take the path to the right of them). Signage when in the was almost non existent, which may have added to the time it took us to head to the beach... This is a great place to bring the kids and enjoy natural beauty. It is shame people do not pick up their litter and remove waste from bonfires. It takes some time to to the and back so you need to remember to pay enough for parking. Has a public toilet. Absolutely beautiful dunes! Great place to explore lots of different environments in one place. Big area. Car is dirt under trees, but spacious with toilets. This was a stunning day out, a long from the car and we were knackered after playing on the but I would highly recommend it, we didn't end up walking to the sea as we took our sledges and played for hours on the instead, from the car take the middle route and go straight towards the and you should see the dunes, the first exit that heads into the woods does have one large dune but we didn't get much speed on our sledge! Be prepared to have a lot of fun and get very sandy! Stunning, pristine and massive beach. Fantastic fun for well behaved dogs to run, play, meet new friends and generally have the best of time. The to the is beautiful, especially at sunset on a clear day. The colours of the sky reflect on the and the view is just astounding. Walking from the car to the takes 30 mins but is an easy walk. We enjoyed it so much that I became dark on return to the car park. We spotted big groups of deers grazing in the dunes. The car is 5 pounds for the whole day. Very nice place, the are impressive. There's a half an hour from the car to the beach, but also plenty of other paths for walkers. is not crowded, but unfortunately tourists, mainly young people, leave all the waste on the beach. It was not pleasant to through all that rubbish. Great place for walking our dogs. Lovely and fantastic views over looking Porthcawl and Ogmore.
