It is easy to find and a car part. From there it just got better. There was a lively welcome as we entered the bar and very efficient check in. The room was very new well looked after. We had dinner in the and then worked on our laptops in the bar afterwards. The bed was very comfortable, strange for a hotel I find, and slept very well. The only downside is the hot water in the shower does take an age to arrive but once it does, there is plenty of it. We will return. This is a lovely hotel just a short drive from Harrogate, conveniently located right by the A61. The décor is modern, the rooms are bright and airy, with tea and coffee facilities, and very comfortable overall. At £80 for a couple, it offers excellent value. We tried the on arrival at £15 per person, and it was superb—generous portions of turkey, ham, and beef with plenty of vegetables. What really stood out, though, was the staff. Everyone we met was genuinely friendly and helpful, including the manager, who went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. All in all, a fantastic experience and highly recommended! Took a drive through Minskip and a couple of other villages to get there, well worth the drive. The George is very light and airy, with lovely light oak paneling. The food was really fresh and really tasty. The stand out items were the meat, two thick slices of turkey for me, the roast carrots and parsnips (devine) and the mash potatoes. The there were amazing, very professional and attentive. The George claims to be Yorkshire's finest carveries. So here is the rub, I've had better Sunday lunches, but I have never had a better carvery. Give it a go. I am sure you will not be disappointed. Thanks folks. The meats on offer were by far the tastiest of the meal. And I'm told that the meat pie was also good. But everything else was quite tasteless and insipid. The roast potato for me, should be the crowning glory of the meal were soggy and finished off in old oil as were the carrots and parsnips. I'm not one to waste food but I really couldn't eat them, even after I'd smothered them (along with the broccoli) in gravy... But alas that too lacked flavour and sadly had to leave /waste them. The peas and green beans were the only veg I managed to eat. I definitely would not go back... Sadly. We are kiwis looking for an"traditional" Sunday roast. Not a bit of mash with a thin slice of meat and a tiny Yorkshire pud all stacked up and costing the earth, nonwe want traditional and this is exactly what you will get here!!!! Fabulous!!! A choice of 3 meats and or homemade steak pie - which looked amazing, fresh vegetables, stuffing, large Yorkshire pudding and beautiful gravy. Mustard/horseradish/apple and cranberry sauces all help yourself. The meat was also cooked to perfection - and you can have a bit more (if you can fit it in lol). I lived in Yorkshire for 20 years and watched old beautiful pubs go through the "trendy lunch" phase and sadly it's still an overpriced thing in many pubs. This place is traditional, lovely setting, clean, fresh, great service. I would highly recommend PS, I would also recommend booking as it gets very busy for obvious and reason. Go now!!!! The honest traveller x Wow The George was a surprise. A wonderful selection of roasts, drinks and deserts and a very reasonable price. The epitome of service with a smile. Our servers bar none were friendly helpful and energetic. A must for a Sunday lunch - looks like they can handle groups of all sizes. We were walk-ins a the seated us with no fuss. Lovely place. I dropped in for a coffee and was very impressed with the place. It was spotless. Ots a mix of modern and vintage charm. The smelt fantastic. 10/10 Lovely carvery. Friendly staff. The location is spot on. Well worth visit. Thanks I have been to the George for meals for many years usually for Sunday lunch. Today I went with a friend on a Thursday for the pensioners special. I have many food intolerances and dont eat meat but the George is happy to cook me a piece of plain fish without sauce. My friend ofted for a choice of meats/ yorks pud then we could fill our plates with as much veg and sauces/ gravy as we wanted. The meal was excellent value, superbly cooked wirh a choice of veg. I would really recommend The George Highly recommend for the Sunday Roasts. My husband and I are repeat customers and its our go-to anytime we want fresh delicious roast. The turkey is moist, all the sides are flavorful and the gravy and toppers are lovely. Had a sunday and it was amazing. We booked a table for 20 if us and we were given our own little area. Service was amazing, were extremely friendly. Little note though make sure you let the manager know its a surprise hes at giving it away when you walk in 🤣 We’re to begin 🤷♂️ if this is Yorkshire's best I would hate to taste the others A saucer for a plate 3 kinds of veg carrot non existent and cooked to a mush definitely cheap ingredients Yorkshire pud has bad taste and the stuffing I couldn’t even think of a comment for it. Beef over cooked and tasteless server unpleasant far too expensive for a saucer of dog food and the gravy if you could call it that is watery rubbish I just don’t understand how it’s got these reviews you could not pay us to go back it’s shockingly bad. There is a chain of carvery’s in uk I don’t often frequent them but to be fair there worth ten of this please Yorkshire’s best a Yorkshire pudding wrap of York market is worth ten of this they must buy there reviews no way they have these reviews Went for a meal today Very all the food was excellent The were very accommodating Drinks were well priced Going again with some friends soon looking forward to it Thank you to all the Very welcoming, The owner and team were very friendly, rooms are decent whilst the dinner was excellent and worth the trip just for that.
