В воді десь 5 метрів гальки, потім тільки пісок Like it! Mixed beach, part sand, part stone. Maybe not suitable for small children, it gets deep pretty quick. Not a lot of people. The of Gerani is 3 km long which is located at West Crete 13 west of Chania. It belongs at the municipality of Platanias and is a tourist surrounding by hotels . Easy access at the and busy at the summer but at the same time quite because of its length and wide. This is beautiful, even when the sun goes down. 😊 Guter Sonnenuntergangspot. Strand nur normal Clear water, big waves, lots of sun beds. Bad point- no bar Beautiful and uncrowded place. Calm and quiet place Most of the nearby hotels provide sunbeds and umbrellas The perfect place for families with children, Real relax , not crowded, nearby food and drinks way cheaper than Chania area Parking spots available and easy to get to the beach, even with wheelchairs I saw Toilets I didn't see, we used the bars but showers on every exit Beach by itself wide, sand, Just a bit stones Infront of the water Pleasant stay Lovely beach. Sand and stones. Whem water is calm it is brilliant but the waves can get quite rough. Turtles nesting so need to be cautious not to disturb This was a nice which we visited in the late afternoon when it was a little cooler. The hotel we stayed at had it's own part with sunbeds and umbrellas. Some days there were red warnings as the waves were a little strong but still enjoyable to relax. I have been to various parts of Greece over the last 30 years and have never been disappointed with a - until now. Staying at Proimos apartments in Gerani, which are fabulous, it's just a short walk to the beach. It's mostly pebbles, coarse sand and drift wood, but then there's the rubbish. Most of it is in the sea, some on the beach. No way would I let my 1 year old granddaughter even paddle. What have we humans done to this earth? We are the most destructive, thoughtless and uncaring species. The pebbles and steep drop into the sea are a no-no for children anyway. I will never return. First of all, it's a beach. It is a good stretch of a beach, has warm sea and sand with loose pebble band at the tide line (I've managed just okay without shoes though). The sea is clean, but may be murky if there are waves (cause bottom is sandy once you past the tidal line). I saw at least five different kinds of fish, all that within 3 metres off the tide line (snorkeling) and I haven't even tried hard looking for them. At night, if you just about patient, there's a chance to see the erupting moon over the little rock off to the right in the sea. Enjoy! It's a beautiful but there are pebbles not sand and the water gets deep fast. Ein toller ursprünglicher Strand. Landing at either Chania or Heraklion (the former is preferable) head East for racket, or West for some peace and quiet. Transfer by Bus, it takes longer but you'll not be ripped off. Gerani Old village is a good place to base yourself. Platanias up the road is a little noisy, but there's good restaurants there. I wouldn't go in July or August due to the humidity. And it's too busy. Any other time ok and get a 'Flight only' ! Find a room when you get there. Ask to see it before parting with your hard earned. Also check the Toilet !! It's a huge Bay. Chania to your right and to the West, the Rodopou peninsula, with the White Mountains behind you. Food everywhere is fantastic, there's Architecture, Archaeology and beautiful scenery. The wild flowers at Easter time must be seen. Monasteries abound and wellcome visitors. Most have wartime history. The Island offshore is 'Theadorou' and is populated by 'Kri Kri', it's an Ibex that once populated the whole Island. They have been hunted almost to extinction. It is "Definitly" out of bounds !! These are probably the last. Crete is my favourite place on Earth. I've been here 3 times and I love it. If you are receptive, a visit to this Island will change your life.
