Very clean and well maintained restaurant, and I would recommend everyone to stop by for a meal. We reached there around 11:30 - 12 (noon). I think the has just opened. They only had 7 dishes (between appetisers, salads and some main course) available. While I understand we were a little early on that day, we couldn't enjoy the full experience. This is a family run business. The people are warm and welcoming. Trust me, you will not be disappointed by the service. This place is absolutely amazing for and authentic Cretan food! The portions are huge and they’re all so and fresh. We got the dish, sea bass, chicken and aubergine. The was great and we loved the food. I absolutely loved the chops. The complimentary dessert at the end was very tasty too - just a shame we couldn't finish it! Came here because of the great reviews, but I was not impressed at all. The view from was nice, tzatziki was really good, but everything else was average. French fries were frozen from pack not homemade - not so good. Bread was basic store bread. Beer charma was nice. After the meal we got complimentary Raki and dessert. But from all places in whole Crete, this was my least favourite. The worst part - next day me and my wife had an upset stomach. From all the places in whole Crete never had such issues. food! Normal price, but the noise from the terrace it was very disturbing. One more thing they bring you bread to the table even if you didn't ask for it and you'll find it on the bill.😉And what's nice is that you'll get dessert on the house. First time in Crete, Greece. The food in Irene's Tavern was delicious. I had the oven baked lamb. My wife had the skewered pork. My cousin had the mixed zucchini. We all loved our food. Great price and the staff is great. Giannis is a wonderful host. Definitely recommend eating there. You must come to Irene’s Tavern if you want to taste the real cuisine from Crete! The food is very authentic and excellent. The food is amazing no matter what time of day you visit, the employees and owner are extremely nice and generous, and the prices are unbeatable. We were treated like family whenever we came and got to know so many dishes (and cats)! Next time we come to Crete, we'll absolutely make sure to visit Irene's again. The stuffed cabbage rolls and slow-cooked are absolute standouts. and a warm, welcoming vibe make this place a true gem. Highly recommended! The seafood was incredibly fresh — we ordered grilled , sea bream, and Fried Sardine , and every dish was cooked to perfection. The staff were warm, friendly, and really took care of us from the moment we arrived. They even brought us a complimentary dessert and local raki to finish the evening.
