This kind of restaurant is not using a charcoal grill so because of that the lamb chops were too greasy, not dry, but oily. The appetiser dish smoked pork fillets were good/ fair, the zucchini balls were enjoyable. The desert Xerotigano, so oily that I couldn’t even eat it. The desert Pavlova, nothing special about it, no kitchen work, just simple mixing: ice-cream, strawberries and pieces of meringue. This is a great place to watch the sunset and enjoy delicious food. Parking is available. The portions are large, and the prices are above average. Everything was delicious and enjoyable, and it was worth the price. Don't forget to make a reservation. What a place! Arrive early as it gets really busy. I was privileged enough to eat my way through Taverna Spilios menu during my 3 nights stay in Kavousi. After traveling 2 weeks around Western Crete, I can confidently say this is the best Taverna I was fortunate enough to experience. The hospitality is like non other; I felt like family by the 3rd night. The owners consistently stop by the table to ensure everything is satisfactory, and the staff is beyond kind. I highly recommend the rabbit stifado and the mousaka (best I had in Crete). Also recommend booking a seaside table to experience the epic sunsets.
