One of our favourite dining experiences in Crete given the excellent food, service, and atmosphere. The food was wonderful, with wide ranging vegetarian and several vegan options available. I had a very difficult choosing, but loved the Green Salad (delicious combo with fig, orange, pomegranate and cheese), feta with staka (flavourful baked feta with pie-crust), bread, and house wine. A nicely displayed jar of fresh fruit is also available as free dessert. Menu is also well marked in multiple languages: Greek, English, Italian, French, and German. Service was great, with food coming out quickly and being attentive without intrusive. Atmosphere was lovely, with wooden touches and an open outdoor with views of fields and sea in the far distance. A few friendly cats and dog roamed too. (The cicadas noise was a slight detriment, but that’s been any outdoor Crete dining in July.) Toilets very stylish and clean, with sinks shared between men and women. Parking is either on the street or a small gravel car park a one minute walk away. We had no issues on a Friday night. excellent and food. the waiters were very nice. They know how to do their job well. you can see that it is not just politeness but they do it naturally. You really there as they take care of you. What you see in the picture of gramboussian lamb. don't miss it! We went there earlier for dinner. 5:30 pm, it was already busy. The food was great, loved the sea bass. The fries are the best I've ever had! Fruits are free. A very interesting location and a great case study on how to capitalize on success. The is extremely popular so the system they came up to to serve the demand efficiently and profit to the max, is to great a continues queue by putting people as they arrive on a waiting list and informing them how long they will need to wait. After informing them about the wait they prompt them to to the garden/bar where they can wait and where they have built a strategic bar, selling water, beer etc. When your arrives you are called by name and number of people with around 5 other groups and walked to your table. The waiting and the actual are also beautiful and exceptional. After seating the was impeccable extremely fast and attending, the water would not even empty and they would swap it with a colder bottle, your knife would fall, you would immediately get a clean one. The food though was just good, and that was the biggest let down, some dishes that were also famous like the honey meat "pie" were mediocre at best. This is unfortunate as they have nailed almost everything apart from the food. If you're on Crete, this is a place where you absolutely MUST visit. It is AMAZING 🤩😍 You don't need a reservation, when you get there, you're greeted most often by the owner himself who invites you to take a stroll through the gigantic vegetable they have. The veggies in the meals are from their garden. There is a huge outdoor bar on the way to the where you can get some drinks while you're waiting to be seated. Maria, one of the bartenders, is very hospitable and makes you incredibly welcome. She even remembered the names of the people who recommended the to us. The food - mouthwatering! 🤤🥧 Really and with some interesting twist to all of the meals. The - excellent. Everyone is so polite and helpful and fast. You also get a surprise in the end after your meal... but I won't spoil it for you 😉 And the biggest surprise for me was when we got the bill. You can see in the pictures how many things we had ordered and we also had drinks and the bill was €61 😲 I thought they had forgotten to add some of our stuff to the bill. It's beyond me how they manage to do this - outstanding service, marvelous food, gorgeous and cheap prices. And, as I said at the start of thos review - If you're on Crete, this is a place you absolutely MUST visit. Everything was just perfect. The place itself is awesome, they usually have waiting list but you can have a walk through their which is really and wait in the garden’s bar, where you can find local wine and beers and of course really ones! The menu comes as a newspaper, big surprise! The food was amazing, we loved it all, maybe the best if I need to choose one would be the moussaka. The was so quick and perfect ☺️. A solid five stars for Cretan food in the middle of nowhere!! We went without expecting much, and We had a big and tasty lunch. The was friendly, and welcoming. The views are beautiful and includes a typical Mediterranean style. I recommend to sit near balcony to have views of the sea. Salad and lamb was the best dishes we ordered. The spot is cute, decoration, little bar in a garden. Food was very and not overpriced ! There’s a fruit buffet at the end. We had to wait 1 hour for a table :/ The payment process could be improved. The card machine was set to Greek, which made it a bit confusing as a tourist to understand the options when paying. At the bar, the waiter selected the tip option on the machine without asking me first, which didn’t very transparent. At the same time, as it is the most popular and touristic place in Crete the is so so, waiters are running around with short information what to do next. The food is with European shift and indeed tasty. We only didn’t like cod that was somewhat dry and in smaller pieces and the fact that the receipt was given just after the order and we needed to take on our own the goodbye fruit. It felt like being rushed. in more expensive places it works different and especially in Greece when each is super welcoming and people are too :) Definitely worth coming but for once - just to see :) Gramboussa Tavern has a beautiful setting and a solid menu, but our experience was a bit mixed. The food itself was tasty especially the shrimp, once they finally arrived but we had to wait around 25 minutes for them, which was a bit frustrating. Also, while the staff was polite, they didn’t as warm or welcoming as we’ve experienced in other taverns in the area. Overall, it’s a place with food, but the could use a bit more warmth and attentiveness. We went for lunch without expecting much, but we were absolutely blown away. It turned out to be one of the best food experiences we’ve had in Greece. The was excellent, friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The surroundings are truly beautiful and authentic, with every detail thoughtfully designed. You can really the care and love that’s been put into the place. Kann es jedem nur empfehlen, der nach Balos fährt. This hidden gem serves up some of the best traditional Greek cuisine I have ever had. This is a MUST visit when on the way back from Balos Beach. Hint, go with an empty stomach, because you won't leave with one. The serving sizes are generous. A+++ The combines excellent cuisine with one of the most stunning settings in Crete. The food was outstanding, and the staff kindly welcomed us even without a reservation, before evening rush hour. Service, while efficient, lacked some warmth: our waitress was polite but rushed, and a language barrier led to a brief mix-up when the main dishes were brought out by another guy. Fortunately, it was quickly resolved thru non verbal means. The reflects its popularity, the is always buzzing, almost perfectly tuned to move guests through the cycle of dining. While this efficiency ensures smooth operations, it does leave little room for a more personal connection. Unfortunately they called our name and we must have been wandering the gardens (like they suggested, and they moved right on and didn’t let us know). We had to ask the host after an hour and they got us a table right away. After we ordered, we waited over an hour for food. We had to ask our waitress about our food after we sat there from 10-11pm. It looked like she forgot about us, as all the tables around us got there after us, got their food first, and already left - before we got our food (we were a party of 4). The food was delicious, but we were just so tired for waiting 2 hours. Our original waitress left work while we were eating, so we ended up flagging someone down to ask him how we should pay. Not many people checked in on us while we ate. Despite all this, the was amazing, the food was delicious, and I would come again!
