Great Visitor Centre This is a really nice with toilets, and a lot of information. It has a few tables around so you can pic-nic at your convenience. It is right next to the parking. Excellent to visit with great staff and delicious coffee. Some lovely walks from here, including Hadrians Wall, Turret 45a which is featured in the 3d movie at the Roman Army Museum which is a stones throw away. Small kiosk onsite. Small visitor with a small shop/cafe. Drinks, ice cream etc available to refresh during hiking. Clean toilets, small shop woth local lager and fridge magnets and a cafe included. Parking felt expensive at £3 for an hoir and a £1 an hour after. Paid for 2 hours explored the area and ran out of time for a coffee!! There have been many great improvements with the footpaths and seats and it's far better for walking. My only gripe is the parking charges. I wouldn't mind paying £5 for 3 hrs but not for 2. As we get older we slower and are constantly seeing how much time we have left. We have visited walltown for many many years but now we have to think twice. Not all pensioners are rich. Great from the visitor take in all views on the way £2 park for a hour Clean basic toilets, warm inside with a lovely woodburner. Offers hot drinks and snacks only. Accessible with disabled parking. Need to pay for parking £6 for a full day. A fantastic haven for wildlife, scenery and history as it contains Hadrian's Wall. We go there regularly with our dog. You can see various birds on the lake, sometimes deer in the wild if you are lucky. If you like nature this is the place for you. There are also some picnic benches and a willow labrinyth walk. Large carpark on a dead end road, just down from the Roman Army Museum. Pay and display £6 all day (March 2024). A good base camp for several walks in different directions. The small visitor has tea, coffee and snacks - alongside tourist information. Check the website as they close the out of season, but keep the car park open all year round. There is also a specific Dark Skies viewing area for special celestial events. Be aware, it's a very steep section of Hadrian's Wall, very up and down, but the views from the top are spectacular. Great place to park for a along Hadrians' wall. The has a great selection of drinks and treats. Staff are lovely and helpful. After 14 miles of Hadrian’s this place is a welcome pit stop. BRING CASH! The young dark haired young lady has a wonderful smile and so very friendly thank you for today The visitors is an ideal location for a pit stop, whether it’s for a walk, toilet break or picnic. Great time taking in the views from Hadrian’s wall.
