Great place to stop on my motorcycle tour. Sad the cafe is no longer there and no toilet. That said, the views are Amazing and I had a great run into Pooley Bridge. Views over the Cumbrian countryside are fantastic but the cafe is a big miss although I have seen a burger van or ice cream van on site of a weekend. Amazing road to drive/ride on with fantastic views from the summit car park. Not the easiest in a 44ton truck. Bikers nirvana. Go test yourself and your machine, and ride some fabulous twisties and see some superb views at the same time! 👌👌🏍️🏍️ Had my first run up (and down) Hartside Pass on my bike after passing my test in March- safe to say it didn’t disappoint! I can definitely see this becoming a regular ride out for myself. I adore this place even in poor weather it is so beautiful One of the best panoramic views you might have in England. From here you can see the mountains that encompass the Lake District, the Eden Valley where Penrith lies, and the area of Carlisle. In a clear day you can even see the Solway Firth. It is also a nice spot if you are a motorcyclist enthusiast and would like to practice your skills in the nearby Hairpin Pass. From this point you can walk to the summit of Cross Fell (893masl) which is one of the highest points in England and the highest outside the Lake District. Great driving experience whether you are going up or down. Fantastic view point when you make it to the top. Quite desolate when it's raining & windy. But on another day when the sun was shining, we had a lovely stroll along the track across the moorland. Very enjoyable.
