It was constructed in three stages starting in 1360 and was home for generations of the Boyd family until they abandoned it in the 1600's when local fishermen used it for storage. Just outside is an old cannon believed to be from a sunken Spanish galleon escaping the English Navy after the defeat of their attempted invasion. Unfortunately at this time of year (mid September) the is only open on the weekend (Sat & Sun), so we didn't get to go inside, but we loved the setting and enjoyed walking around the area. Along that coastal route you also see the magnificent 3 sisters rock formation. We were both in awe of the landscape and views. It's quite breathtaking and well worth a visit. Walking boots advised as is waterproof jacket, weather can change quickly so better to be prepared.
