This is our second time staying at the Bickerton Poacher on the campsite. The location is perfect, walks all around. The campsite is also good, good facilities and really close to the pub. The pub has atmosphere and the food is lovely. Hats off to the new owners you have an amazing place. This pub was a fantastic find for one-night stop on our summer holiday! Our room was great, with a double bed and a separate room with a bunk bed. The bathroom was huge! We also loved the little touches, like the kettle with options for tea, coffee, and hot chocolate right in the room. We arrived late in the afternoon and missed the Sunday carvery, but the food from the regular menu was also delicious. The staff were all so friendly. Ethan, was a star and helped us pick out some nice cocktails. The hot breakfast the next morning was wonderful. We had a really time and would definitely recommend it. It's a spot with a nice campsite too. We went here for a lovely meal the night before our wedding at Peckforton. They were to fit us in at short notice considering we had 13 people with us. The food was delicious and everyone said how nice it was. Staff were really friendly and accommodating. Would definitely return! Thank you so much Had Sunday cavery last Sunday for a birthday, service very slow at filling empty dishes, rock hard roast potatoes so couldn't eat them. Same with Yorkshire pudding, the bit of food I scrapped from the dishes was getting cold while waiting for someone to fill empty dishes. Very disappointed & Paid £15.95 plus £8 for dessert & still went home hungry 😡 My and I went to the Bickerton Poacher Earlier today. My Wife ordered drinks. Included in the drinks was a large Merlot. This was paid at the bar. Unbeknownst to my wife she had been charged for a bottle of Merlot!! Not a glass. Later on, I ordered more drinks, including another large Merlot. I noticed (with the card reader upside down) that I was going to be charged £ 25.00 +, for a larger and a large Merlot!! The bartender apologised for this and altered the amount accordingly. I rejoined my family, and my Wife checked her transaction from her previous drinks order. With surprise, in her bank transaction, she discovered she had paid a large amount, consistent with, being charged for a bottle of Merot earlier, too!! The amount overpayment was refunded. Upon investigation , I was surprised to learn that the bar person who had served us twice, was not a new employee. I find this disturbing! I strongly recommend anyone ordering anything from the bar, ASK FOR A RECIEPT. Im disappointed with at this pub, we have been here many times over many years 🙁 I honestly can’t express how utterly disappointed I am. We came here excited to celebrate a member’s birthday, and it ended up being completely ruined. From the moment we sat down, the service was just awful. We waited around 15 minutes before anyone even came over to take our drink order. When the server finally did, she quickly asked what we wanted to eat — but as soon as we tried to ask a simple question about the difference between the standard and large carvery, she just walked off mid-conversation! She said she’d come back for our food later, but instead, she went straight to another table behind us and took their order. Then she disappeared for a good 10 minutes, came back, and started taking the food of another table that had literally just sat down next to us. At that point, we just sat there feeling completely ignored and frustrated. By the time she finally returned to take our order, we’d already been sitting there for nearly half an hour. What was supposed to be a special celebration turned into a really upsetting experience. I rarely ever leave negative reviews, but this was honestly one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. Came here again for a camping trip after coming last year for the first time. Quiet camping grounds, child friendly and tidy. Shower area could be better with an extra sink however it is kept clean. P ub/ restaurant is lovely, menu, food and service. We enjoyed the quiz night with our young and all staff were friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back!
