Absolutely beautiful food and fantastic service! We will definitely be back The environment was welcoming from the first minute to the last. Both Josh and Carla made us feel special through the meal. The selection of food on the menu was varied and of high quality and so our evening was ideal. It is well worth the journey out of Bishop Auckland and it will be a venue for a return visit. One of the best Sunday roasts ever! Sunday lunch is wonderful and a really nice price .X home cooked food. Good pint. A Lovely Pub just make sure you book a table.. Nice and quiet just before tea time, dog friendly place but we sat outside as it was a pleasant day. Varied menu with food for everyone’s taste. Worth a visit We have been regulars here as a family for over a year. The standards of service, food quality, and value for money are second to none. Well done to the chefs, the floor staff, and everyone involved in running this business. Just had our first here and it was lovely. Delicious food - fish and chips was cooked beautifully, and so were the chicken goujons. The whole place is nicely decorated - super tunes playing too! Will definitely be back Service excellent food very tasty and lovely free dessert which was unexpected 😋 Had the mix grill, at £25 I thought it might be a little over priced. Oh boy was I so wrong. It’s a beast of a meal. The quality is fantastic and the amount is not for the faint hearted., I’m a big man and I struggled . My partner had scampi. Yet again , fantastic and a big portion. The service was amazing with a big smile. Professional but casual, Scampi £14.95 well worth it . With drinks the total was £58.15p With tip for good service £65 . We were there for a baby shower and really enjoyed the experience. The pub has a lovely view, with good food and drinks to match. Overall, it was a pleasant time. A truly awful if you could even call it that. A Sunday roast with one potato each. Pork so over salted it was inedible! Requested a coke and lemon, apparently this pub has no lemon? Requested a bottled beer but apparently they don’t have that either? Requested a ginger beer but guess what, none of that either?? So no drink with my micro roast! Served with a gravy boar of what looked like baby food. Fortunately another customer asked what that was and apparently it’s their speciality orange and grey cheese sauce with a bit of random cabbage thrown in! Enough vegetables to keep a hamster happy for twenty minutes! Topped off by a small Coca Cola for £3:50!! Never again and enter at your peril or if you enjoy rancid food and rude adolescent staff! so pleasant and helpful despite a very busy service (everyone going to Kynren) and an obnoxious customer demanding to be served first 🙄. Wait for food was not too long (given how busy it was), and portions were hot and plentiful. Would definitely come back again. Had a very pleasant here. Tasty food, with plenty of vegetarian options to choose from. Nice atmosphere with background music at the right volume to easily have a conversation. Friendly staff. Excellent value too – we got the Tuesday deal, which was a free dessert with each main meal. Particularly impressed by the tart tatin! Always really nice fresh food and are so friendly and welcoming , restaurant is nice and clean and a lovely atmosphere love it here Delicious food, generous portions. The Chef discussed his latest Burger creation with our group, and it was a winner. The atmosphere was relaxed and the were friendly and couldn't do enough to help. Special mention to Zach, who was a great host and spoke so positively about the area and the local folks. If you want tasty food, cold beer and a relaxed atmosphere, head to Bishops Lodge A lovely building, very clean. The were good but the food was awful. I had scampi and chips, my husband had fish and chips. The fish was very salty and greasy and the chips were inedible. This restaurant is situated in a prime position, it has been improved since we last dined here but the food is a big disappointment. It was very quiet for a lunchtime. We won’t return unless you get a better chef. Have been coming here for a while now and I have to say the food is amazing and plenty of it. Best Sunday dinner I’ve ever had. Prices are very good too . Well worth a visit . Visited here for the first time recently with my brother, uncle and Marley (a very energetic cocker spaniel) who were visiting us. We were all very impressed with the food both at lunchtime and in the evening. Everything was freshly cooked, delicious and the portions were very generous. We ate in the dog-friendly area which was spotlessly clean and spacious. Marley was looked after very well and he loved his doggy sausage. All the were extremely friendly and made sure that everything was okay and responded quickly to any requests we had. Thank you especially to Carla, Zac and Abi for looking after us so well. My family has returned home now, but my husband and I will definitely be returning in the near future (sans dog!).
