Amazing spa& thalassotherapy overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The place has been all renovated with a massive indoor pool, the massages are to die for with very skilled staff. Top spa in Europe. The major refurbishing job has produced a far more elegant and appealing hotel and restaurant environment. But the spa has turned into a major disappointment after the extensive modification work over the last 2 years. After having been a very regular and satisfied customer with the previous setup, I now consider that the place is to be avoided. I have both stayed at this hotel and only used the day spa and both experiences were fabulous. The facilities are impeccable and the are excellent. The spa has a door in front for access directly to the beach so you can cool off in the Atlantic Ocean between sauna and hammam sessions. Heaven! I really like this place. The view is amazing, good treatments, nice Hammann. I don’t like wearing swimming caps that much but it’s acceptable. The space is beautiful, the ambiance is great, and a lot of thought went into the place. The steam room is especially beautiful, as is the design of the pool. There are some things, however, that are missing or lacking, that make this only 3 stars worthy: -There is no cold plunge; rather a bucket reminiscent of the “icebucket challenge”, that isn’t actually very cold to begin with. So you can’t do any long cold-therapy submerging. -The hot tub area isn’t hot; perhaps it’s not designed to actually be hot, as it branches off from the main pool, but it’s definitely not as relaxing to enjoy extreme hydrotherapy in tepid water. Also, the entire pool area was a couple of degrees too cool, so lounging wasn’t especially comfortable. My husband and I felt like Goldilocks in every area besides the sauna and hammam. There are very comfortable lounge beds with excellent mini jets, which was my favorite spot, and I am a bit sad that it wasn’t just a little warmer, because I would have stayed much longer. -Amenities in the locker rooms are nonexistent, outside of the hairdryers (one was broken). I had to switch showers because the soap dispenser didn’t pump in the first. Small things that will most likely be fixed next time, but were still a nuisance. If you don’t come with all of your lotions n brushes n whatnot, it’s not especially accommodating…unless you buy something from the shop. I perhaps have been spoiled by places like Aires in Nyc, or the Pearl Spa and Sauna in Sf, so this point might be biased. Overall, it’s a bit overpriced for what you get in the general spa area. My husband was very satisfied with his massage, however, so the services are apparently good. I will still go back, because it’s closer than La Perla, a soothing space to have some couples’ relaxation time, and the are very hospitable…but next time I’ll be bringing my bathroom bag. The best thing was the breakfast and the piscine. It's incredible in a 4 star hotel and the to not speak English at least those who have contact with the guest. Very bad communication and organization before we go... Also, when I had a technical problem in the room the receptionist said: It's like that. No effort to resolve or check.
