I had been recommended this winery in a bar in Berlin and had some of their wines in a restaurant in Budapest so I was looking forward to visiting. From the very beginning the guy who worked there was extremely rude and condescending to me and my mother. When we asked a question or tried to engage with him he would make smart ass statements or comments. It got to bad at one stage I had to say if you don't want me to say anything for the rest of the I'll just shut up. It was a deeply unpleasant and unprofessional experience. We didn't come all the way from Australia to be talked to like idiots when we were interested in your wines. It's awful to see someone be so rude and smug to your mother in front of you as well. The at Zsirai was better so would recommend to go there instead. This was our absolute favorite part of the region. Mád is a beautiful country town and Holdvölgy is the gem. The grounds are gorgeous as you arrive and the was incredible. We tasted 3 drys and 3 sweets and our only regret is not having enough room in our luggage to take them all home! Our guide was very knowledgeable, interesting, fun and approachable. The treasure hunt element especially was such a fun touch. How cool to navigate through tunnels! Even though our group was late to the scheduled private guide (which the guide was made aware of) he was quite arrogant, smug, and in general seemed to lack enthusiasm throughout the tour, taking the frtustration out on the group. It was inappropriate and uncalled for. Although Kornel explains the processes and apparently takes pride in working there, he should really be able to do it in a way that does not make the participants uncomfortable, to leave with a bad experience.
