Loved this restaurant- it’s an absolute gem. The architecture is stunning, an old house was modernised to the highest standards. The food was divine with excellent wine-pairing. It was super tasty! Definitely better than the Michelin recommended resto in a nearby village. It was plenty, it was tasty, it was well presented and the wine that came with it took me right up to heaven. Very well priced too - starter (goose liver pate + late harvest wine), main (venison stew with dumplings + aged furmint) with bread and sparkling water came only under £30. Absolutely lovely family business too - mum, dad and daughter run the front house, wonderful hospitality. They are open Thursday to Sunday, so plan accordingly. Highly recommend. A most rewarding bistro restaurant, great food, innovative chef 👨‍🍳, excellent atmosphere... We were so lucky to get a table here during the busy Vince nap (make sure you reserve well in advance). The service was incredible, with care taken to explain every meal, and particular attention to any allergies of the group. From my understanding the menu changes frequently, but from what we had, we rabbit and paté starter was one of the best I've had in Hungary in a decade, the mushroom soup was delightful and the venison loin was perfectly cooked. I wish we had been able to try more of the wines, but we're very grateful to have been able to eat here. Thanks to all the staff and the Mád community for a great experience. Reciently restored place that serves as a restaurant and wine shop of Kardos winery. Well worth a visit if you are in the tokaj area. The waitress was one of the friendliest person i've met in my life, translating the menu from hungarian to english to me. The Emu pate was amazing, as well as the beetroot soup Also bought some of their amazing wines. Not expensive at all This was an extraordinary experience! This cozy spot is run by one of the owners, Clara, a kind, caring, and lovely host who guides you through the marvelous world of Tokaj wines and their wonderful menu. The lamb was one of the best things we ever tasted. The staff is friendly and helpful, everyone speaks English very well. 10/10 experience, definitely worth the visit. I spent the weekend in Mád with a friend, and Gábor and his wife truly made our trip even more special. The food and service at their restaurant were excellent, and they always knew exactly which wine to recommend. They also gave us great tips on places to visit in the area, including other wineries. I can’t recommend their place enough. A big thank you to both of them for being so kind and welcoming to us! This is one of those places that makes it worth visiting the region just to visit it. We actually went to Mad just because of it. :) The food is absolutely amazing, and the menu changes depending of which ingredients they have that week.
