Went here with family before a long drive home. Close to motorway, bonus. Big place decor is light and airy. nice, all busy. Good choice of menu especially the small style tapas dishes. A nice change from the ordinary pub grub. Can't fault it and would go in if passing that way First time and loved it... The set two or three course menu is a bargain. Lovely place and were great 👍 Food really wasn't great at all. The beef was impervious to both knife and tooth. The portions were hilarious leaving the plate empty and I am not a big eater. The buttermilk chicken burger with bacon was terrible, soggy deep fried and the bacon, well look below. We also tried the dauphinoise which was bone dry and looked like dried out stacked paper, inedible. My lad did however say his burger was nice.. Only saving grace being the waitresses who were lovely. Christmas meal with my team. The Hornsmill were friendly & attentive. The food was cooked beautifully, presented well and tasted delicious. From my initial booking to our meal today has been effortless. We felt relaxed and able to take our time, we really enjoyed our afternoon. Thankyou. This is my second visit to the Hornsmill. Fantastic customer service, welcoming, clean, tidy, delicious food and all presented beautifully. I’ve made plans to return in a weeks time as was so impressed. The Sunday roast was superb. Compliments to the chef. Highly recommended x Absolutely amazing roast dinner platter for a good price, came here with my family and they all loved it. Great selection of beers and ciders to boot. was a little awkward and rushed at times but it was never slow! Just came back from having a meal here with 3 friends and to be honest the whole experience from being seated at our table, having our meals and of course dessert was 5*****!!! The food was amazing, very flavoursome and plenty of it. The servers were very polite and friendly. It was very busy but there was plenty of space between tables so you couldn't hear people talking on the next table. The only little thing that was a bit frustrating was the car park was a little on the small size, so when it is busy be prepared to wait for a space. We will definitely be back!!!!! Xxxx Excellent food and value for money. Was surprised how little the bill was with the quality of the food. Brilliant too by the staff. Will definitely be back. Excellent experience to dine here these two nights I stayed in Chester. The first night, I ordered steak, medium rare, the meat was really well prepared. The taste, the seasoning was super tasty. Tonight, my husband and I ordered lamb chops, it was AMAZING!!!! The sauce was so tasty. It’s definitely worth coming again. We had an early dinner here on a boiling hot Saturday on the way to a reception. The were lovely, polite and friendly. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very comfortable and the food was absolutely delicious. We only had a main each but both were superb, good portion size and presented elegantly. I would recommend the 'trio of fish' perfectly cooked sea bass, salmon and king prawns and the tomato pesto was divine. The stuffed chicken breast was also extremely good. We will definitely eat here again. 10/10 Passed through for a bite to eat and a drink, was greeted by a female host eventually who was some what rude and not very welcoming. The pub itself was lovely, clean and tasteful decorated, very nice atmosphere. Food came promptly, was hot, cooked as it should and pleasantly surprised after the welcome we got. The male host that served us was awesome, friendly, smiling and made you feel welcome, we actually gave a tip at the end due to his great service. Would have gave 5 stars if we would have had a better welcome. Had a lovely family evening meal here for the first time. A very welcoming atmosphere with beautiful Christmas decorations. Spotlessly clean and very spacious. The greeting and table assistant were amazing and very attentive ensuring all our needs were met. was perfect. Food was delicious and plentyful especially the Steak Pie. I'd highly recommend the Hornsmill and would return. We were disappointed to find that customer seems to disappear here on Sundays. This is unfortunate, as we are regular visitors and usually enjoy the pub on other days of the week. The contrast is noticeable - during the week are welcoming and friendly, but Sundays feel very different. After asking if we could have a drink before ordering food, we were ignored, even as a waitress placed a reserved sign on our table for a booking less than an hour away. With no further acknowledgment, we ended up ordering at the bar ourselves. Thankfully the food was served quite quickly. We chose the sharing platter, which was fine overall, though the roast potatoes were particularly disappointing. Normally, we would have shared this feedback with staff, but no one checked in on us at any point - not when collecting plates, nor when we paid. A simple “How was everything?” would have made a difference. This isn’t the first time we’ve experienced poor on a Sunday, but this visit stood out as especially lacking. It’s a shame, as the reputation built by the rest of the team risks being undermined by the Sunday service. Were we not familiar with how good the pub can be on other days, we likely wouldn’t return. We will continue to visit during the week, but sadly, Sundays have left us with a sour impression. Food was expensive but enjoyable. It took an hour for our order to be taken and even then I had to go and find someone to take it. They never apologised for making us wait so long. The food also took a while to arrive. Although the surroundings were nice and the food was decent (not exceptional) we won’t go again.
