This was a fantastic find for out Motorhome adventure to Durham. Parked up for 2 day stay, electric hookup, warm showers and easy walk into Durham centre. Lovely location when suns out and cracking little cafe onsite. Be worth a visit over next 2 was with the rowing regatta on Our son attended the Learn to row during a school holiday. Ray ran it with support from volunteer young rowers of the club. The young ones that assisted were well mannered, engaging, encouraging and generally nice to be around. I don't know all the facilities as it's my son that goes inside, if outside conditions aren't suitable to row. There are racing groups and a Sunday group for those that have done their rowing acquaint, who don't or aren't ready to dedicate to the racing schedule. Lots of opportunities to be involved with in the club and social events. Be careful when you park! Be sure to register in 1860 Kitchen and bar your reg' as to not receive a fine. Nice C.L. site, 20-minute walk into the centre of Durham. There is plenty to do and see in the city. Very nice campsite by the river, 5 hardstanding pitches with hookup. Toilet and showers also a cafe and a bar which is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 9 pm. Lovely walks along the river into Durham Handy for walking into Durham, but not the greatest motorhome stopover. Water and waste facilities in road. Beautiful setting with easy peaceful walks along the river wear to Durham centre are worthy of these three stars However the shower and toilet facilities are woeful as there’s one shower snd it’s extremely dilapidated and filthy dirty almost all the time as mud is being walked in and there’s no cleaners here (we arrived Sunday and it was cleaned that night hut no one cleaned again after that) -shame as it’s nice place to stay but I’d not return to such woeful facilities Called in for coffee & scones today, speaking from experience the cheese scones are to die for, there is just the right amount of pepper in them, we had ours toasted - deeeelicious, coffee and service is good too. We hosted a work family BBQ at this venue in June. We organised the event through John and Mark and they were very helpful with providing information and updating attendee numbers etc. On the day itself, Mark set up the area, provided lawn games for the kids and cooked the BBQ. He was great at keeping me informed about what was happening, how timings would work, accessible access etc. Everyone had a brilliant day and really enjoyed themselves. The location is gorgeous and the food was really good and there was plenty for everyone. All in all, it was a brilliant event and I would absolutely recommend this venue and team looking to host an event. In fact, there has already been suggestions in my company that we should make this an annual event!
