This is a great place to come for water activities. We often come here for paddle boarding as a family. It has just had a facelift and a new hut for payment and parking. It cost £10 per adult and £5 per child to go out on the water. It's a great thing to do with family and spend the day out on the lake. Location: ellerton park , Scorton, Richmond, GB, DL10 6AP Fabulous place, fantastic day paddle boarding. Excellent experienced staff. Easy to book on line with SUP active Yorkshire. What to bring: Towel Swim wear and shorts Flipflops Any medications you may need e.g. inhalers Water bottle Sun cream/sun hat It completely depends on what you want from it. If you're after an open water swim because you're training for an event, then perfect....If you want to go 1.5km round trip on a paddle board then perfect....Don't bring your dog it's a strict policy. There is all you need, a lake, a kit hire and it's not too expensive. It is an affordable way to spend a good few hours with the family.....(Just not the dog) Lovely in a lovely area with friendly helpful staff, decent sized carpark and nice grass area to sit and eat lunch or chill and watch etc. café just up the road if you want to use it, food is good, coffee is fresh. Only thing I would say is that there are lots of weeds in the (obviously as it’s now summer) doesn’t spoil the fun for paddle boarding but I don’t know about swimming. Go! Give it a try and have a wonderful time! We’ve been many times over the last 2 years and will return again soon 😁 Great for swimming, good toilet/changing facilities. A bonus is that there is a car at the bottom of the for scuba divers and it’s always fun trying to find it when you’re swimming. Can’t wait for my triathlon here in a few weeks! So many rules it spoils what could be a nice day out. The ladies attitude to the customers is poor at best, they even charge for spectators after spending £15 pp to paddle board.. Far better paddling on the Tees at Preston park, free parking cafe children's play area etc... The is amazing, clean, tranquil and full of life to look at. The water was clear allowing us to enjoy looking at fish and plants. The walk around the is just long enough to unwind and relax. Campsite is all we would wish for; clean, quiet with beautiful views of nature. It is staffed by welcoming kind and caring staff/owners. The toilet and shower block is situated on the other side of the lake, which is not an issue as we had our own toilet facilities and were happy to walk over for a shower. It is not a problem when you get such stunning spot in return. We had fabulous stay filled with watersports, walking in the local countryside, bird watching and enjoying the tea rooms nearby. Visited this afternoon hoping for a lovely wild swim, but unfortunately the experience was overshadowed by the attitude of the lady at the entrance. She was rude, dismissive, and unnecessarily unpleasant. It’s such a shame that a beautiful place is let down by such an unwelcoming approach to paying, respectful visitors. Sadly, we won’t be returning.
