Drove past and popped on the way back, it's was a Sunday for busy for roast dinners, but we were seated pretty quickly. The Mrs has a beef roast dinner and I the big breakfast, both pretty good, coffee decent and a wide selection. I will certainly call in again when in the area Situated on the A68 between Bishop Auckland and Corbridge just outside the village of Tofthill. Food is always and value for money. On our last visit it now seems they also offer onsite accommodation with stunning views. are always friendly and helpful. place to stop off for something to eat. Lunch is a busy but they have an excellent seniors two course menu worth trying. Haven’t been for a few years since spending in Edinburgh and my home in Pompey. Still as good, home cooked food, has the steak pie, chips and gravy. All for fifteen quid. Lovely place to spend an hour of your heading back south or going north and want to miss out the A1 and experience the beauty of Northumberland We always enjoy our visits here, a nice welcome, food, & tidy. The prices are ok and fair value for money. views from it's elevated position outside, better enjoyed on a warmer day not so much in January. This was a stop on our way through. Sometimes it’s hard to find gluten free food on the road, and the 68 hit the spot with gluten free paninis. The serving sizes were generous, the dishes were creative, and the food was tasty. We finished off our meals with a slice of gluten free carrot (excellent) and gluten free chocolate (which was a bit dry and the only disappointment here). Friendly, courteous, and attentive giving pleasant vibes that carried across our fellow diners. Food was served rapid quick, my wife had home-made corned beef pie and chips, I had steak pie and chips, the pie was packed with succulent steak. Well worth the visit. Fantastic views as well! Lovely place, lovely views, lovely food. Can't fault it! Just grabbed a small breakfast, as I couldn't resist some cake... This gem of a is located around a mile from my home and I seldom visit, this is about to change. Today I had the best breakfast of my life. The A68 Special Large Breakfast at £11.14p it's was superb. Black pudding, two rashers of bacon, two sausages, two mushrooms, egg, beans and a slice of fried bread and one slice of toast. Cooked perfectly, you could taste the constituent parts and not grease like other places, this is no greasy spoon, and is a roadside restaurant for those in the know. Of which there were many in attendance, regular customers were enjoying everything from toasted sandwiches, to Sunday Dinner piled high, it looked delicious. Never fall into the trap that the A68 is a regular greasy spoon roadside cafe, it is not, it is a destination for an extensive range of quality food coupled with fantastic service. The counter was covered in an abundant arrange of fresh home baked cakes, at which customers had called into simply to purchase to take them away. The service was cordial, cheerful and quick. Added to the comfortable immaculately environment that I had to enjoy my meal, added greatly to the experience. This must be the No 1 roadside in the north of England, never mind County Durham and it deserves all the accolades that it has garnered. The old adage " you only get what you pay for" springs to mind, it was worth every single penny. And I will be back sooner rather than later! Stopped off for a bite to eat on a business trip as it seemed like a nice place. Glad we did, food at prices. Highly recommend the burger, just make sure you have an empty stomach before hand! Toastie and a cuppa, was ok An excellent venue to hold your corporate event at. Customer hired our human demolition, 40ft assault course, axe throwing and football shootout. Very and with breathtaking views, it was a pleasure to come set out inflatables up. heaven. Been meaning to call in here for ages, so glad I finally did. Brew up a cup of coffee. Options of large sizes, do had to be a large americano, brewed just right. Chicken bacon and brie toasty with ginger cake. Spot in, perfect consistency with the right amount of ginger to sponge. Will be back to sample more cakes. Our trip was perfect! I came here with my two little boys as a little getaway and it was magical. We’ve come away feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, relaxed and happy. The food in 68 was and I’d go as far as saying the best cooked breakfast I’ve had. The accommodation was quality and spotlessly clean. Everything was so carefully thought out so our stay was perfect and we wanted for nothing. The were friendly and the surroundings were so beautiful.
