Frequently mentioned in reviews: Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. Easy ride. Good guides. Bonus: they take pictures of you with your phone!! Absolutely fantastic Icelandic horse with Begga and Sveinn this week. Everything about it was very special indeed from the initial training, routes taken across beautiful scenery, mix of terrains and fun-loving care taken of us for the whole afternoon. And we also fell in love with the horses! 💟🐴💗🐴💘 We had a great afternoon at Begga’s and Sveinn’s horse stables. Convenient Location One of the standout features of this was its proximity to the city. It was just a short away, making it incredibly accessible. Stunning Surroundings The natural beauty surrounding the area was breathtaking. Volcanic landscapes and scenic views made for an idyllic backdrop as we rode, enhancing the overall and allowing us to connect with nature. Passionate Owners Begga and Sveinn were truly remarkable. Their friendliness and genuine passion for their were evident from the moment we arrived. They took the time to match each rider with the right horse based on our individual levels, ensuring everyone felt comfortable and confident. There were both beginners and experienced riders in our group, and everyone had a fantastic time. The owners encouraged us to alongside each other, fostering a sense of camaraderie that made the feel more like a gathering of friends rather than a formal tour. Small Group Size With only six participants in our group, we received personalized attention throughout the ride. This small size allowed for better interaction with the guides and made it easier to ask questions or seek assistance if needed. Thorough Instruction Before heading out, we received a comprehensive lecture on how to ride, which was particularly beneficial for those new to horseback riding. This preparation helped build our confidence and ensured that everyone was ready for an enjoyable ride. And yes, you will “tolt”!! Minor Drawback The only downside I encountered was the lack of toilet on-site. I arriving with this in mind—make sure to use the restroom before heading to the farm! Conclusion Overall, this horse was a delightful that I would highly to anyone looking for a fun and engaging outdoor activity. With beautiful surroundings, passionate owners, and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s an adventure you won’t want to miss! What an absolutely INCREDIBLE we had in the volcanic landscapes tour! Begga and Sveinn were amazing guides and not only knowledgeable about the beautiful land we rode through, but about their entire herd of horses! We felt very safe and well-equipped for the weather and terrain. As for the Icelandic themselves, they’re so gentle and mild-tempered, and (as someone who has ridden “regular” before) such a smooth ride! I couldn’t Íslenski Reiðhesturinn more for your horseback in Reykjavík. There’s no other company I’d rather go with after this experience. We had private with their lovely, well trained Icelandic in April 2023 when the weather was a little gloomy but it didn’t stop us from enjoying their company. Our little one who has special needs happened to take it well and infact was enjoying throughout, by herself on her well trained horse. They had all the protective gears for her including spine brace/protector. It was priceless to see the smile on her face - very therapeutic for her. All in all it was unforgettable thanks to very hospitable hosts/owner couple . Our host was very friendly and professional. This was the introduction and with Icelandic that we’d hoped for. Great background and info. Beautiful trail through hills, valleys and lava flow areas. A all around experience.Thank You Very good riding-experience. Knowledgeable and safe trip for all levels of riders. Great tracks near lakes, in lava-formations with the owner Sven. Beautiful of the volcanic landscape with geological explanations from him, as well as plenty of pictures taken while we were riding. Horses are and to do the toot is an exceptional experience. Very well, taken care of of horses, and can strongly suggest this in individual, couples and families 🏆 We recently visited Iceland for the first time, and my partner was adamant that we go horse riding. Having never been on a horse myself, I was a little hesitant, but willingly gave it a try. I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had!! We visited in early November, and the weather wasn’t great (really windy and rainy) which clearly put others off, as we were the only two to attend, but that didn’t dampen the at all. Sveinn was our instructor, who was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and really put me at ease with how straightforward it was going to be! We went out on Koen and Bríet (guessing at the spelling) and both were so well trained and well behaved (expect Koen clearly didn’t like being at the back of the herd, and would speed up as soon as my partner tried to pass me!). We really had an amazing time, and we’d definitely return if we find ourselves in Iceland again, and we’d this to anyone wanting a different way to explore Iceland. Thank you Sveinn for all the great photos too, they’ve made for some great memories! Begga & Sveinn are incredibly fantastic, so close down to earth as u can get. the Day begun with a lot of laughing, and the Day kept going like that! Beautiful horses, you feel safe all the way through the and they treat the with a lot of love. I can highly you to visit this Farm, it’s a memory 4 life!! Thank you so much for this experience! We had a with Sveinn through the spectacular landscape. Even though we had a wide range of (myself over 20 years and my boyfriend just a couple of times) Sveinn managed that everybody had a lifetime experience. So much fun Icelandic horses, and learning the Tölt! Sveinn was very patient and knowledgeable, and fun to be around. Can’t this enough, nothing quite like Icelandic through a lava field! My husband and I traveled to Iceland in March 2023, three years after we had originally booked the trip, thanks to Covid. We had purchased tickets for the Volcanic Landscape during our initial planning in 2020 and Begga & Sveinn were kind enough to honor our original tickets when I contacted them. The 9:30 was wonderful. We were both beginners and Begga gave us detailed instruction and demonstration about how to before we met our horses. She fitted us with helmets and then we had a couple minutes of introductions with our respective horses. The Icelandic were good natured, easy going and immediately lovable. Sveinn helped us with fitting stirrups, mounting and getting accustomed to using the reigns. We did some practice turn, stop and go commands in the paddock area. Once we felt comfortable enough we departed the stable and headed out on a dirt equestrian path. We were lucky enough to be their only guests that morning. Begga and Svenn led the way on their horses, my husband and I followed on our Twister and Cowan. One of the their friendly school students also accompanied us and followed behind making sure we were ok. Though we were still in Reykjavik city limits, the scenery was extremely beautiful. There were wetlands, lava fields, volcanic craters and panoramic mountain views all along our route. We saw heron, ravens, ducks, geese and other small birds. The weather was cold, calm and clear making views of the countryside and surrounding mountains breathtaking. Begga and Sveinn were fun to chat with and shared great info about the horses, Iceland and the landscape around us. Begga was skilled at shooting pictures of us over her shoulder during the and we stopped and posed at a particularly scenic spot for one of the most treasured photos of our entire trip. She shared all the photos by an email link later that day. I felt more comfortable as I spent time Cowan. He was fairly forgiving of my occasional confused commands. I was grateful he knew what he was supposed to do. When we got back to the paddock we stood outside the fence as Sveinn and Begga removed each horse's gear. I loved to see that the were all grooming each other and they seemed happy after their morning together. Begga called us a taxi and we chatted until it arrived. It was truly a great experience... I'd highly recommend. Sveinn and Begga's love for the is evident and also quite infectious. Iceland is such a beautiful country and Icelandic horses, which are such an important part of their history and culture was a nice way to connect to it. Getting there: If I had one thing to provide constructive feedback on it would be transportation... including this would be ideal for the price of the tour. We took a 20 minute taxi from our hotel in Reykjavik city center to the Icelandic School (~$39 USD each way). A less expensive option was to use the city bus system but with transfers and stops it was close to an hour and you'd still have to walk a bit from the bus stop to the stables. A couple practical tips if you're doing this when temperatures are cold : 1) You can't put a helmet over a wool cap with a pom pom on it... I didn't think that one through 2) Gloves (not mittens!) are advisable. Takk Begga & Sveinn. A experience. Hope to see you again someday (perhaps in summer next time). My daughter and I had an amazing time horseback at Íslenski Hesturinn! Sveinn was so friendly and we felt very safe with him as our guide. The lava field is incredible and we learned so many cool facts about Iceland. And the tölt is so much fun!! Would highly this stable!
