Nice hike to get there. Follow PR2 of Pedrógão Municipality and enjoy this and other surprises along the way. It is around 8/9 km and if you go for it during mid season it is the best time. In the spring it is full of colours and smells. Just for for it. Charming ancient bridge in a scenic location, accessible by foot either from the Pedrógão Grande side, or the Pedrógão Pequeno side. On either side of the river there is also a hiking trail. The Eastern side appears to be popular by mountain bikers. The Western side is for hikers only, unless one wants to carry the bike down / up a very steep ravine consisting of loose rocks. If acces was better, the bridge would make a fabulous backdrop for engagement / wedding photos as the Barragem do Cabril is in the background. In short order, the bridge is worth a detour. A beautiful, well preserved slice of elagant history spectacularly dwarfed by a 2 feats of modern engineering in the most stunning of natural settings. Nice views down there, but it's hard on your car, and a real tight fit for 2-way traffic - in fact, we never made it all the way down, but stopped and enjoyed the view at the half way point. I enjoyed seeing the harvested cork trees. Just great! Enjoy your walk across and along the riverbench. Having a break in Bar do mercado, Pedrogao Pequeno. Nice walking trail, please do not try to go by car, road is narrow, steep and there is not much soce for turning a car back, make the walk instead from the town of "Pedrogao Pequeno", nice view going down, beautiful scenery, if there is no much people enjoy the silence and peace of the place. Nice for bike riding and picnic areas, signs for trail routes available. No restaurants or any kind of services in place, bring water and adequate clothes. Lovely hike down until the small and quiet area of the bridge. A nice spring walk definitely.
