This hiking is currently closed due to landslide. But if the is open for the public again, it is definitely worth a visit. The isn't very long and also not difficult. Not only are the wonderful to watch, the nature along the is great as well. Had an amazing with the Forturismo agency, led by a wonderfully enthusiastic guide. The was quite challenging at times, with lots of uphill and downhill stretches, but along the way we saw some of the most natural areas and waterfalls. I can highly recommend this hike. Maybe the most spectacular on island. However hiking wasn't so interesting. Almost not possible to rich this small village if you do not have a car or buy a tour. Il sentiero finisce poi il un piccolo paesino sul mare Gorgeous little with ruins of a mill and 2 waterfalls. Entrance is a little tricky. Best way is to avoid thw farmland portion of the hike, go to the house named Sillanova and turn left at the intersection. Real part of the starts in about 100 meters, long winding steps going down to the pool and then more steps to the waterfalls. You can continue the after the second waterfall, climb the steps to the farmers field and walk back to your start point immediately behind you once you reach the field, a tight circle that leaves you where you started. Prendre le chemin de DROITE indiqué sur le panneau About 3.5 miles of hiking, with 3 waterfalls, bird-song and aromatic flora that made for a fabulous experience. Started the in front of the church and the first mila and a half was on a wide through farmland that got steeper as we descended to the first near the ocean - you can swim here. The next two falls were on a rougher, steeper through the forest. There were ruins of a water-mill near the second waterfall. No official parking, only possible to park "the azorean way" along the road Rua do Igreja. Nice clean toilets at the starting point. Suggest to start towards the west in the direction of the cemetery, as this way you will have most of the roads and asphalt descends in the first half of the and the pretty foresty shady parts and the waterfals in the second half. Note that the contains a lot of up and down slopes, also muddy ones, so wear good shoes and be prepared. Although it is only about a 2h it does require some stamina. The and the forests are beautiful, especially the last waterfall, Cascata do gruta, with an overhung cliff that you can enter seeing the from behind. We also used it to hide from a short rain shower. Diverse and hike, well marked with poles, watch for the red and blue double lines! 5km hike. in few sections, kids complained but finished the loop happy. Dry path all the way. and nature changing from corn fields to redwood trees to trees covered in flowers. Glad we decided to conquer the trail. This was definitely one of my favourite hikes I did from my week on the island. We were there in June, and barely encountered any other people on the hike. The sign states that it takes 2 hours but we took just over an hour and a half (without stopping to swim in any waterfalls). There is no official parking, just park on the street by the sign, and then you can go in either direction. If you turn right (looking at the sign) you'll go into the first, and if you turn left, you'll be in the town / out by the ocean first. There are washrooms right by the sign. trail. Well worth doing the full loop to get experiences of the first, and ocean. Approximate completion time with detours to see all the is about 2 - 2HRs 30 (5K loop) Recommend sturdy shoes. Some sections and can be slippery underoot. Super Wanderung! Amazing walk with 4 waterfalls! We enjoyed swiming in 3 of the 4! The is quite at times but super nice through the forest! It's a lovely with not so many people around. The only downside is, that if you choose to do the whole circuit you'll end up walking quite a bit on a road. If you want, you can walk only the part with the one way and back. The itself is not the easiest but very doable. Wear hiking shoes as it is quite and slippery when wet. There are 3 and one small lagoon on the trail. The water is cold but very refreshing after the hike. You can swim in all 4 pools. Definitely bring swimwear as it is the highlight of the trail. Super cool with nice waterfalls, mill ruin and some junge feeling. The was back from the ocean to the village is not super exciting but the rest makes up for it. Some waterfalls, mix of roadside but majority in the forest. There were a lot of elevation changes … definitely a challenging for novice hikers. Short but intense trail, the salto do homem was a very nice natural swimming pool. The marking on Google Maps will take you to the starting point of the route inside the village. We parked on the sidewalk in a side place that doesn't get in the way. There are maps on the side of the road that indicate where the route continues, start going up inside the village until you reach wooden steps that lead into the forest. With the exception of the descent, the rest of the route is relatively easy, with every few meters another descent (also on wooden steps) to one of the waterfalls. We were in two, both were amazing. The route is circular but we chose to go back the way we came and climb back through the wooden stairs (about 10-15 minutes of ascent) Great hike! Do clockwise to avoid some rough uphill sections. The village, countryside, and are all beautiful. Easy-Medium difficulty in the winter, some muddy areas.
