Chatham Dockyard is definitely worth visiting, especially if you have an interest in maritime history, naval architecture, or British industrial heritage. There is so much to see and you can easily spend the whole day there, a maritime museum on part of the site of the former royal/naval dockyard at Chatham in Kent, South East England. Explore a Cold War Submarine through the hatches and peer through the periscope of OCELOT on a to the Dockyard. Timed tours run daily and can be booked on arrival. Chatham Royal Dockyard provided more than 500 ships for the Royal Navy, and was at the forefront of shipbuilding, industrial and architectural technology. Unlike other attractions, they have ample free parking directly opposite The Commissioner's House There are so many amazing things to see historically. They have everything: a destroyer, a submarine, old military vehicles, equipment, and the RNLI lifeboat collection. We traveled for the Call the Midwife and could have stayed all day—plenty to see for all ages and many education opportunities. A amazing place with so much to see and when you buy a ticket you can use it all year around. I recommend getting here as early as possible because you need to book in advance to go on the submarine and it getting very busy in the afternoon, but it was a lovely place to and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Wonderful place to visit. All the staff are so friendly. The call the midwife is very good. If you buy a ticket, adults £25.50, you can go as many times as you want in a year. The ticket last a while year wow. Great day out. A great day out, visited the recently refurbished cavalier bridge bringing it as close to original as we could. Alot of work by the many volunteers of which am one. Great place for all the family. Lots of places to see & explore around the dock side, great fun. Plenty to see. Call the midwife was really good, but you have to remember done scent picture it. They did well to show you everything filmed there Really enjoyed our day out, discounted entry with bluelight card and ticket lasts 12 months. Well this is a hidden gem. So much for our young daughter to do. Also the admission is for a year. Soft play outside park. Great exhibitions throughout. Honestly a great place to spend a day. Utterly brilliant! Staff and exhibits were engaging - Phil the guide on HMS Ocelot and Vicky on the Ropewalk particularly fabulous. Thank you! What an amazing place! So much to see so we will be going back regularly to see it all. The staff were absolutely friendly, helpful & caring especially Aoife who is shown in the photo. They all went the extra mile to ensure we were catered for. I am disabled and also have an Emotional Support dog who was very happy to be stroked by the staff and members of the public. The food was well presented and a fair price. There's SO much to see. This place was used to film Call The Midwife which you cannot unless you purchase tickets for the of that particular area. Unfortunately we found it rather expensive at £40 per person. There are no concessions 😔. This place is incredibly interesting. I had been told that it was expensive at £25 for an annual ticket but I think that this is amazing value as there are no further charges once you are inside. My favourite experience was the submarine but the rope manufactury runs that a good second. Not to mention the WW2 destroyer. A great place to visit. We took our grandson as there was a Lego event “Brickwrecks: Sunken Ships in LEGO® Bricks” which was a fantastic event. We have returned, as tickets last for a year, and visited other sections including going aboard the submarine Ocelot and a of rope making. Definitely again.
