Essa era parte integrante di un sistema difensivo costituito da tre torrioni, due dei quali a difesa della porta (parzialmente si conserva anche la porta occidentale). Degli edifici pubblici si conserva solo il Teatro, che, contrariamente al solito, è collocato fuori le mura ed addossato a queste, sul lato sud. E' nota anche la posizione dell'Anfiteatro, testimoniata dall'affossamento del terreno sul lato nord della città: curiosamente esso era all'interno delle mura. E' stato possibile individuare anche la collocazione di un Tempio di ordine corinzio orientato in direzione nord, con la pavimentazione a formelle quadrate marmoree ed il basamento per la statua di culto. Sono stati riconosciuti due livelli pavimentali di cui restano tracce di mosaico. Sono stati messi in luce due impianti di case del tipo domus ed in zone interne strutturate a cortile erano presenti delle botteghe. La città romana sopravvisse fino al V sec. ma sappiamo con certezza che era in parte abitata ancora nel 1600 fino al suo totale abbandono nel XVII secolo.
