We made a stop here on our way to Monchique. Parked the car just next to Cafe Imperio and took couple of flights of stone stairs into the valley. A lot of diverse fauna to admire on you descent. Afterwards, you are welcomed by a beautiful garden with many waterworks, pathways and bridges. There are also many picnic places however, visiting in the morning, we had the place to ouselves and found it very soothing and relaxing. If you are passing by, definitely consider visiting. This is a beautiful area to have a leisurely stroll, a picnic or to fill your water bottle up with Monchique run off water. Lovely place for a picnic or a walk. You can fill up with controlled water with healing properties. Nice place for a small walk, clean water source! This is an amazing place. Hard to find, but keep eyes open for a Café once your navigation tells you you are there. There you can park at the side of the street. Very cute place to stop for an hour or so. If you are travelling with a baby, bring your baby carrier as there are steps so not possible to bring the stroller. Lots of shade and cicadas so perfect spot for a nice nap for the baby! I loved this area, tranquil and peaceful. I just sat and relaxed enjoy the warmth of the sun. There's not much to do other than relax. Enjoy a drink from the fountain! There is also a small cafe at the enterance to the path up to the fountain, which is lovely (does good espresso) and very reasonably priced. Such a disappointment. The area actually has potential, but so poorly taken care of. Probably tourists from the hotels don’t go there, so why bother. The water in the fountain is actually not verified to be drinkable, there is a sign there.
