Many trails, great shade for a warm day, but due to lack of rain there was no waterfall. Maybe I try again in the fall. We enjoyed our walk through the area around the Tausendmühle, and up to the Elendsklamm. We found the trail to be in good condition, and the forest was beautiful. Perfect trip for getting out to enjoy some fresh air. American Review 🇺🇲 - A little muddy during the winter when it's raining all the time, but totally doable. Park at the Bierkeller Parkplatz. Do not use your GPS to drive to these coordinates. You'll end up on one way farm roads I'm pretty sure are only for locals. 🙈 We got to the part where the road started blending into the grass and was like... this is definitely not right. 🤣🤣 Loved the small waterfall and running water! Good for hiking but not much of a stream to see. It is still a nice place to relax. It was a beautiful autumn day. The leaves fell like snowflakes and the gentle breeze whispered through the trees. This is a wonderful place Parking was hard to find. Do not drive into the unpaved road. Our car went over a rock and scraped the undercarriage. Only one vehicle can go through and you may run into a stand still with another vehicle. Park near the fields before the road turns into dirt. We started the there and followed the maps on our phone. We wanted to get to the waterfall stream and cave. We were able to get to both. It took about 2.5 miles to get to the stream area where the water fall is and the wooden bridge. Another .75 miles or so to get to the cave. All together it was a 4.9mile hike. We got lost slightly and turned around and we made some short cuts back to the car. It’s so beautiful and there are some steep areas but my 9yo and 6yo did fine on the trail. Not so stroller friendly into the woods because some trails get narrow but there are a lot of other trails that are stroller friendly. The cave was 1.1miles from our car but we took the long way not knowing! ALWAYS DROP A PIN WHEREVER YOU PARK YOUR CAR! This helped us out so much getting back. I was able to have signal most of the time on the hike. Some areas I lost signal but not for long. We have T Mobile service. Bring water and snacks and bug spray and sunscreen! Be prepared but also not needed you can choose how far and how long you want to hike. Beautiful and recommend. Trails aren’t as marked as we would like but there are some posts and signs along the way! Nice little near civilization. Needed some nature time to refresh the batteries. This is an amazing place to visit, explore, hike/run, and enjoy with family and/or dogs. However, be advised that the directions provided by Google Maps can be a little wrong and take you thru some private roads that will lead you to a less optimal startpoint. I recommend you start your journey from "Parkplatz Bierkeller und Elendsklamm." It is close, legal/accessible thru public roads, and convenient enough to have a great time without driving thru people's backyards. Additionally, it is next to a very nice country store at "Tausendmühle" (also found on Google Maps).
