This place is quite unique and I would advise anyone to check it out. Accomodation is very roomy and beautifuly set up. The food was really good. Big open spaces, dinner in the barn, saxon village, right next to a fortified church. If you have the chance to come, don't miss it! Very familiar and local experience. An old schoolhouse renovated and made into a hotel with a very traditional touch. Very worth the visit! What an amazing stay. We were only there for one night, but you can see the care and passion that went into renovating and managing the place. The food was great and the staff were friendly and accommodating. However the most impressive part of the visit was the tour of the fortified church that Carmen's husband conducted. He provided us with a full history of the saxon community in the region and in the village. When Belinda said “heaven is a place on earth” she was probably staying at Transylvania guesthouse. This place is magical. It’s where rustic meets diaphanous, simply magical. The rooms are simple, comfortable, very light (if I can describe a room as light). The buildings have large gardens where you can relax, listen to the birds or pet the cats. There were also many dogs, all super friendly and cute. The restaurant is great, food was delicious. They also have a big library (very instagram-able 😅) that is just magical. I can’t wait to return! The room was a bit hot, even at night and there were no windows that could be open (the windows were as big as the door) Loved it. Beautifully restored, excellent food and service. Always nice when you can charge your electric car, even if it is just a simple 220V outlet. We will come back. We loved everything about this place—one of the rare finds that truly ticks all the boxes: warm guest service, delicious food, unique personality, thoughtful design, and cleanliness. The hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming—like we were guests in their own home. The food was beautifully prepared using local produce, with a charming Saxon twist. The design is a perfect balance between Saxon character and Nordic barnyard charm. Sunlight filled the rooms, highlighting the cozy, rustic elegance, while beautiful art on every wall added warmth, color, and personality to the space. Not to mention the loving, playful dogs and cats that roam the property—adding even more heart to an already unforgettable stay. A superb, calm and comforting holiday resort. Carmen and Michael (the owners) are lovely and kind to their guests. I highly recommend it !!! I truly recommend and we always come back with pleasure! It is a lovely place suitable for a quiet vacation. Houses restored according to the architectural style of the area, with exposed wooden structure, tastefully furnished and with nice decorations. The parish house has acces to a big and beautiful garden, where you can enjoy the silence. Since it is a rural area, you can clearly admire the stars (it could be a good place to see the Perseids meteor shower). Excellent cuisine, the food is very tasty with a special flavor. The location is quite peaceful, the people are very friendly, the food in the morning and at lunchtime is good, and in the evening it exceeded my expectations. The rooms need better cleaning, as there were a lot of cobwebs. Also the library is wonderful! Overall, it was a pleasant stay. Review: Staying at this guesthouse felt like a bit of a gamble—and unfortunately, we drew the short straw. The pictures online paint a lovely, cozy place to stay, but what you actually get is more like the “wish” version of the real thing. Cleanliness? Let’s just say it’s not their strong suit. The linens had holes, and the bathroom faucet was so shaky it seemed like it was auditioning for a dance competition. The “attention to detail” they promised seems to have taken a long vacation. Honestly, it’s like buying a cat in a bag—but this time, the bag was a little smelly too. Even though it’s pretty sad, we really tried to give it a chance. But unless your standards are “as long as it has four walls and a ceiling,” I’d recommend looking elsewhere.
