This is a review of the food and experience, which we attended tonight with 14 people in our group alongside another table of about 8. The food included light bites already sitting at the table of sliced carrots with a cumin seasoning, olives, bread slices, & oil and balsamic for dipping. I assumed they were meant to just give us something to nibble on before tje actual meal for came out. They weren't great. The starter was bacalao fritters and a fava bean-chorizo-olive melange. A very simple salad followed next with lettuces, halved tomatoes and thinly sliced red onions dressed in some sort of vinaigrette. The main was tuna and roasted potatoes. Dessert was some sort of olive oil cake. There were two people in our party who do not eat meat. They were given a weird concoction of shredded potatoes, eggs, and leeks... and that was it compared to allll of the other items that were made for non-vegetarians. They were rightfully upset given the cost of the meal. Ot was unsalted/seasoned. The winery paired this all with three light wines but made big pours: a white, a red, and a green. It was all incredibly underwhelming for both meat eaters and vegetarians - and not worth the two hour round trip drive from Ohlăo. We would have rather stayed in town and eaten dinner locally. My wife and I had the communal table experience, we did not stay overnight. The food seemed authentic and was delicious. The hostess was knowledgeable about the and the brief tour around the grounds was informative though note that the winery itself was under construction. This is a review for the with paring from the vineyard. The location is wonderful. The wines were superb, especially the white and rosé. The food was delicious Portugese food and the tour of the vineyard was a great ending to a wonderful afternoon. We’ll definitely be back! We booked the cooking workshop with chef Margarida which includes - shopping for ingredients at the market, which was very small and had little produce on offer, for example no fish. Margarida told us some nice things and it was oké but not very special The cooking workshop itself was very disappointing; the only things I had to do was chop 3 tomatoes and one pepper, and in the end I helped to clean some shrimps. My friends chopped some other veggies and one fried some fritters. The other helped to prepare a simple main dish and put some spices into a carrot salad. We are quite accomplished cooks and expected to cook all the dishes of the 3 course meal and learn new techniques and recipes. The technical part was done by Margaride herself or was already prepared ahead. The carrots were cooked, the batter for the fritters prepared etc. We really feel we didn’t learn any new skills and we didn’t even get a pdf with recipes as is descibed on the website. We got the recipes later after asking. The itself was pleasant but we were surprised that certain dishes as the bean salad and the desert were prepared for us and we didn’t get to cook this ourself. The best thing of this experience is that is served under this very impressive and beatiful 2000 years old olive tree. It felt like the kitchen was very busy with a different cook preparing a farmers for a group of 20 American guests. And there was little space and time to provide us with the attention and tasks you may expect when paying a whopping 150 euros per person! Comparing this with the guests who got the farmers for 60 euros per person who got more food and a tour of the property extra, we would advice you to choose this farmers as it is much better value for money. The cooking workshop is very simple and you learn no skills, just to prepare a small part of the very simple recipes. Definitely not worth the 150 Euro per person! We did the tasting and had a great time! The place is absolutely beautiful and Pascal, our host for the tasting, was fun and explained the wines so well. We stayed in the grounds after the tasting to soak in the beauty of the place. We had such a pleasant time. I would definitely recommend Our outing at Farmer's Table was wonderful. The setting is so charming. Dining under the olive tree and the wonderful food and pairings were lovely. The experience was great. I have already recommended it to friends! We did not use the hotel. We joined the Farmer’s Table and it was lovely. Setting under a 2000 yr old olive tree among the vineyards was beautiful. Food was very good and the was delicious. We ended up buying many bottles of their wine. I would highly recommend this Joined the Farmers Table lunchtime meal. It was set so beautifully, the food rustic and delicious. Excellent served with it. Short tour around the grounds which was great. Ended up staying for a couple of bottles of afterwards with people we met during lunch. Would recommend and would go back!
