We popped in for dinner 2 adults 3 kids. When we arrived on a Tuesday, the place was almost empty (2 or 3 people only). The lady behind the bar was polite and welcoming, the place was clean and tidy. The food arrived pretty quick and was piping hot. The price of the meals were average. All in all a nice place with great service. I would recommend and will be returning at some point. P.s. sorry about the pictures, we had started to eat before taking pictures of the food. We went for a family celebration and we weren't disappointed! We ordered 2 curries, 2 steaks and a cowboy burger. We all finished our plates the food was lovely and very reasonably priced too! We were very impressed and will be back again! Date of Visit 02/09/25 Guests 4 My family visited the Lincolnshire Otter in Gainsborough for an evening meal and unfortunately our experience was not a good one. Our order consisted of 4 main meals - 1 x Ultimate Spicy Beef Burger, 1 x Steak & Ale Pie and 2 x Hunters Chicken followed by 3 deserts - 2 x Sticky Toffee Puddings and 1 x Sherry Trifle Chessecake. The burger had no crispy onions, no hot maple sauce, bacon was soggy, no dip pot of burger sauce. The pulled pork was disgusting - just a blob of something tasteless on the bun lid. The pie was almost inedible. The pastry was soggy on top and rock hard at the bottom and tasted awful. The hunters chicken dishes were not as described on the menu - there was barely any BBQ sauce, just a smear on the top of the chicken and barely any cheese. We did mention this to our waitress but she seemed disinterested and never came back to discuss it with us. When the deserts arrived, one sticky toffee was a good size and smothered with custard and the other was tiny and had barely any custard. They had also been microwaved so long that the bottom had gone hard. We called the young waitress back and asked if we could have more custard for this one but she never came back despite saying she would get some. Our experience was overall poor and based on that I will not be recommending The Lincolnshire Otter to any friends or family. Definitely much better than it was when we last came which was a few years ago in all fairness . We came last night a family of 4 with a 40% coupon, I do think the normal prices are a bit steep for what you get, the 40% off of course was a bonus and made it much more reasonable . My kebab was very tasty but the meat was on the cool side, everyone else was happy with their meals at the price we paid. We didn't get a check back during or after our meals . We were told at ordering it would be a half an hour hour wait which is pretty much what it was . It did get pretty busy about 10mins after we arrived . We all said that we would come back but most likely when there is an offer on to make it more reasonable . The staff were good and friendly. The table we were shown to felt sticky not with food but the varnish was peeling off the top. The steak and ale pie was changed from last time we where there and I’m pretty sure it has never seen any ale it’s now a shortcrust bottom and a puff pastry top and was okay that all I can say I ate it had a lot of gravy in it. The fish and chips was okay and was edible, I suppose with an offer of 40% off it was cheap to eat but not really upto standard . Bar staff absolutely helpful, especially when forgetting what I was trying to order. Very patient. Food absolutely amazing and food was right temperature. Very pleased with service and food. Will visit again Ordered 2 pizzas off the menu which then got refunded as they had no pizza dough. Understandable, we got refunded and chose somethings else. My boyfriend had a burger and chips for £13 which portion sized seemed small more like a children's option, he said it was quite dry. And was still hungry afterwards. I had chips which were somewhat hard but edible. Wait for food was about 20-30 mins for 2 people. Overall portion sizes was small and honestly I don't think was worth the price but food was okay. We booked a table to celebrate our grandsons first birthday. Dylan was very helpful and the young girl on Friday was very attentive. The food was lovely and the young girl brought out our cake already with the candle lit for our grandson. We unfortunately didn't catch her name. She also packed up our left over food very hygienically wearing gloves into boxes for us to take home. All in all a lovely time was had by everyone. Very pleased with everything provided.
