Absolutely surprisingly flavorful foods! In the midst of what seems to be a bit of a sleepy town, we rolled into the Peppermill after 8 on a Friday night to find ourselves among three birthday celebrations clearly enjoying both friendly environment and delicious meals. We didn’t drink, so our bill reflects just 2 mains and a pavlova dessert (interestingly sort of stuffed with a cream) and totaled €65. We had two dinners featuring fish fillets. Both were layered with nuanced flavor and were presented beautifully. The bake was especially interesting and prepared perfectly. We considered going back the next night. Like all the places we ate in Ireland, once you’ve got your food, the forgets you, even to the point of having to chase someone down to pay. This adds a bit of downtime to one’s meal, even if it is them trying not to rush you. Off the beaten track and still very busy! With no reservations, we sat at the bar- food fresh, tasty, plentiful, with good service- roast beef with added steamed veg for €16 lunch menu! Nice outdoor space also What a hidden gem. Best food I’ve had in Ireland by far. Lamb and Fish and chips were incredible. Beautiful inside and out and amazing service. Make a day out of it and going on the Shannon river cruise 15 minute drive from restaurant. Hidden gem outside of killaloe. Inside lovely decoration and attentive staff. And the food is exceptional. Really good price / performance ratio. Have been there on our first night in Ireland and will happily return as regulars. The online reviews were a bit older but I can report that as of August 2025 Pipers is excellent. Between the 5 of us we had mushroom starter (amazing), soup, duck, salmon, and lamb and it was all perfect, couldn't ask for better. Great service, and the back of house is doing great work. Best meal we've had in County Clare in a long time. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 for atmosphere because security cameras feel a little under the eye of big brother but it's standard practice everywhere these days. Definitely worth the trip and thanks to the for a great evening! Once of the nicest restaurants around. Food is fabulous and great value. A little bit out location wise but worth the trip. A must! What a quaint restaurant! We just happened upon it on our site seeing tour with our new son-in-law. So we didn't have reservations, but the manager took care of us and found a table. We don't linger after dinner at all. We understood the table was booked at 7. It was no problem. Food came quickly and it didn't disappoint!! The restaurant had an old lodge feel. Very comfortable. It will be on our list when we go back to Ireland!! The views as you eat are stunning. I had beer battered hake and it was outstanding. The service was great and atmosphere was spot on. 👌 Outside photos taken on a wet day but with the fantastic outdoor area now in place I needed to book an outside seat to ensure I wouldn't be inside on a close day. wonderful. Fish amazing and others had meat which was of equal high standards Best restaurant we've been to on our trip to Ireland so far. Friendly staff, big portions and delicious food. The seafood chowder especially is not only the best seafood chowder we've had in Ireland (every place makes it a bit different) but it's one of the tastiest meals I've ever eaten. It's considered an appetizer but definitely big enough as a main course. Highly recommend! Food was delicious. Cozy atmosphere and lovely staff. Funeral reception on whilst we were there which isn't good for either party. This didn't exactly set the mood. Steak was extremely fatty and chicken wings were served with wrong sauce. Lamb shank was as dry as ghandis flip flop. Extremely disappointed. were lovely but food came out way too quickly. Not worth the price. Great little spot. Food was beautiful, friendly and great service. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Was very good value for money. Will definitely return.
