We were so happy that the restaurant was still serving food when we arrived here after about 2.5 hours of hiking. The food is definitely hearty comfort food and so full of flavor, exactly what you need to fuel your body for hiking. One of the best food in the mountain restaurants. Polenta with boar and polenta with pork ribs are wonderful. Pies and cakes are also delicious. Great view and fresh water from the natural spring nearby. Full of locals that know where to find a great deal. A real refuge in the middle of nowhere! After a 10-hour hike, we couldn’t go any further and the family who lives there came to the rescue and drove us down (the drive is not for the faint-hearted). The food was absolutely delicious and the hospitality was out of this world. Thank you so so much! ♥️ The caretakers (Italo and Giovanna) are some of the loveliest people I've ever met in Italy. And the dinners they whip up are out of this world. Days in advance, call ahead or message the refuge on Facebook to make sure it's open. There are free hiking guides online that tell you the easy paths to reach it. Stunning location, it gives an amazing view over lake Como. The refuge is a charming place, welcoming travelers and visitors. Italo is absolutely a delight of a person and so are the ladies working there. Not to mention the food. Typical mountain slow food. Highly recommended! Great inexpensive food, friendly service, a spring with drinking water nearby and breathtaking views. The nicest rifugio we've seen so far after a 2 day hike. Absolutely wonderful experience! The place is clean, the rooms are nice, the food is fantastic and you cannot ask for a better patron. The staff is super nice and helpful and the view is stunning!
