It's an Anglian reservoir, that is also a fishery, you don't have to be able to flyfish as spinning is permitted for a few months each year check the details of this with the when booking, prior is required, two 8 tickets and a days boat hire came to just over £100, are catch and keep, pike and perch are catch and release regardless of if they are the target species or not, fly and spinning/lure specifically for pike and perch is also permitted during some months again check with the when booking, The has a good tackle shop, lifejackets are mandatory and supplied with the boats, boats are equipped with drogues and landing nets as a bio security measure against invasive fresh shrimp, use of your own is permitted but only if decontamination/disinfection measures are taken before and after use, again check with the when booking. The reservoir itself is split by a road on a causeway and if you think that is the dam, looks rather small, however once you've passed under the causeway it takes ½-¾ of an hour to motor to the dam a point worth remembering as you need to be back at the dock approximately ½ an hour before sunset Would give this place more stars except you are not allowed to take a look walk around the place with out a ticket that I would have thought you would buy if you are but not to just have a look at the place I walked to the cafe looking place to gather information found a board with information and instructions took a few pics from this point and then got back in my car to look for other places that don't charge you just to take a look walk around shame seems like a nice place to spend a afternoon with your camera 2 hours or so walking with the dog around part of the lake - perfect! If you appreciate rural Northamptonshire and peaceful surroundings this is one of the places to come to although I'm not sure it would be so peaceful at holiday time. Really nice place to visit, we walk our dog here. Decent cafe, good playground for kids. Car park can be expensive, we buy a yearly ticket which is much cheaper. Good friendly staff, easy booking. Nice rainbows and brownies on lures. Nice place for a day out with your family.. Car park, cafè, kids area, and much more.. Nice walks and time spent on site usually 2-4 hours unless you go for bbq or picnic. Lovely level walk. About 8 miles if you go all the way ... I didn't. Popular for walkers and cyclists. Thriving club. There is a separate, secluded, wildlife area where dogs are not allowed. Usual Anglia car park charges. Świetne jezioro zaporowe dla wędkujących jak i spacerowiczów . Polecam na weekendowe wypady . Dobra infrastruktura wędkarska . Łodzie z silnikami , możliwość wypożyczenia na pół dnia lub cały dzień . Wspaniałe okazy szczupaków i okoni . Dużo pstrąga paszoka ale są też dobre okazy pstrąga brązowego , ponad 70 cm . Great for walking and cycling. We spent several hours walking around the nature reserve. A gorgeous venue with well maintained / clearly defined tracks. A wide variety of wildlife both on, and off, the water. Although members of BCN Wildlife Trust, a permit is still required to access the reserve. However, there were only permits available in the self-service hut, no nature reserve permits... Right am Writing in particular about The Pitsford Lodge. Seeing that other Reviewers like myself. Have jumbled up pictures of The Main Public Pitsford Water. Am specially talking about The Pitsford Nature Reserve Here. Also known as The SSSI… Right am afraid that am totally unimpressed with The Staff Members Flippant Attitude with Me over The Phone during Yesterday Morning. When I just asked him over the phone. Very basic questions. As to there parking… He just seemed to want to get me off of the phone ASAP!!! & just wouldn’t budge!!! Nor Accommodate to neither me nor my friend & neighbours needs!!! Look am Autistic & suffer from & with Learning Difficulties… & really don’t need to have to have to put up with that sort of Abuse!!! Honestly… but on The plus side the £6 Day Permit. Also includes parking & which is a plus… but on The Flip-side. It has doubled in price. Since 2004… & when I last walked around The Nature Reserve. With one of My Irish Deceased Uncles… So it will be a very sentimental voyage back again. & also the memories might also start to flood back again? We’re see? But on The Plus-side… it’s Secluded. Maybe because of the charge. & also No Dogs & Cyclings are Not Permitted. & which are also major pluses in my book… & in closing I didn’t even have the heart to enquire with the guy. Over the phone. Is they still had The Food & Hot & Cold Drinks Vending Machine? I just guess that where find out once when we both Purchase our Tickets or Permits. At The Lodge. 🙄🙄🙄 I assume that there’s still Toilet Facilities there right? It's further than I thought 🤔 Friendly staff and well stocked tackle shop. I did find it to be a little on the pricey side. Fishing: Found rainbow on the fly at almost every visit, average size 2lbs but overwintered specimens are caught regularly. My personal best rainbow of 4 1/2lbs caught on the fly from the bank. Spinning for is also allowed during the summer months. Husband and son had an hour's beginners fly lesson, 1 to 1 tuition they had a great introduction to fly Excellent!!! By far the best lakeside I've been too. Sunflower 🌻 had all we needed, very clean and comfortable with a great view of the lake off the veranda. We only fished with feeder rods with bandems using groundbait or 2mm pellets on a method feeder, we caught a good mix of carp, tench, roach, rudd and bream. Best place to near the house we didn't but see some big coming out that end. We found just as its getting light far margin from sunflower we caught our best 14lb common the best on a 10' feeder rod (30g weight) is fun to land. 12lb a couple of 10s lots of 7-8lb and loads of 3-5lb carp. Would totally recommend this place for fishermen who like to have 1st class accommodation not just make do because your a fishermen. The owners are really approachable and will guide you . We will be looking to book a return visit for later in the year or next year. Nice reservoir but the Rangers have no customer skills. Walk in price higher without in advance. Spinning rod will cost you more than Fly fishing, because Spinning rod usually catch more than Fly fisherman's. ( I'm quoting Rangers) Great spot to take the kids Such a lovely venue. Great for and lovely walks Great staff at the lodge. Very helpful beautiful resivior great fishing. Just a lovely walk I have always avoided Any Anglian for fishing. Due to their blaiten lies about stocking. I have fished and witnessed them putting just 4 in at the causeway. This was year's ago. Flyfishing is a dying sport. My daughter just 12 and has taken an interest. So I have decided to teach her. Today..we went ravensthorpe. Closed now a water..So back towards home decided to try Pitsford. Anglian rep obviously gave the big speech. What a wonderful place. So trying to bring in a new comer I decided to teach my 12 years old daughter in Pitsford on a boat. After carefully explaining everything to her. We are in the boat up by the causeway. We got surrounded by wind surfers. So we moved. Wind surfers followed. The wind surfers were that close they cut our lines.. £100 Rio mine., now useless. And daughters Royal Wulff, That now useless. Loosing all fly's, And leader also. The wind surfers thought this was amusing. On return back to Pitsford lodge. Anglian rep wasn't helpful either. I quote..Oh that's unfortunate.. That's it. I asked what are you going to do. He replied "Nothing, Nothing I can do" Not willing to complain to the sailing area.. Nothing. So today trying to teach, bring someone into the sport is now extremely upset. I paid £40 to and lost £100 Rio line. Plus £65 Royal Wulff line. Plus leader. Her fly, my three fly's. Never again.. will I fish, on or recommend anyone to go there.. Or have Anything to do with Anglian Water.. Anglian is ruining Flyfishing.. They lie About Stocking Policys. As I have not witnessed anything being caught. And Can't police, Or control other users. So today, all in all has cost me £205.00 Plus fly's, leaders.. What it's cost Anglian Water.. Two Season Tickets I was planning to buy if she did well. My daughter liked the lodge, boats and fishing. So made sense for me to buy. And living so close. We could be there most evenings. Now she not interested in bringing any friends there to try. What She was talking about getting in the boat..She spent the rest of the drive home crying. Then I need to explain to her mother.. Negative Attitude from Anglian Water.. Well it's cost you a hell of a lot more than me. I will replace the lines. Cost you at the very least a thousand for this year. With no repeat business. And definitely none of her friends considering coming. Oh.. ⭐ star rating.. You had to get one. Just to get a review.
