Just played 18 holes here today with my Son. Booked online the night before £60 total for the both of us. Arrived and went into the pro shop. Now reading some of these reviews I really wondered if I was at the same place because the service, politeness and advice was second to none. This was exactly the same experience I recieved in the clubhouse. Absolutely first rate. When it comes to the golf course... Picking up the card and looking at the yardage draws you in, short par fours and par threes...be warned this is a course protected by elevation and very clever use of the landscape. It requires some serious course management. The greens are firm, the fairways tight thanks to the free roaming sheep, the views are just to die for. It is a lovely experience. My only comment would be that some of the on course signage could be improved. But this is a minor point. Go, be prepared to be challenged, note the lay of the land on the back nine holes as you go out and have a super day. We did. Absolutely fantastic course! Set alongside Cardingmill Valley & the Longmynd it has incredible views at every turn. The course design itself flows with the natural contours of the landscape providing a real test of your ability to deal with slopes & gradients! The greens are always in brilliant condition & provide a real test with slopes, double break and tiers. Despite being relatively open throughout winter/spring, the course evolves into a different beast in summer as the ferns grow to full height and become a trap for any stray shots! You don't need to be a big hitter to shoot a score here, though there is plenty opportunity to open up and go after pins if you wish! Course management and well placed approach shots will serve you well! This course truly changes with the seasons, and because of the altitude/location of the course it rarely holds water, meaning it's playable virtually all year round. Be prepared to battle with some winds if it's breezy at ground level, but that's part of its charm and challenge. It really is a course like no other around Shropshire & beyond. James in the pro shop always greets you with a warm welcome. The members are lovely too, happy to advise you on the course and give you a few tips. You'll also be well received in the newly refurbished club house for a post round drink inside, or out on the deck. Lovely food available too! A revamp of the practice facilities is well underway too, with two new nets, putting green and a simulator in the making. Treat yourself, there aren't many better value courses around, if any. Stunning views, course was in great condition greens where superb, golf professional was very helpful and friendly. A bargain at £25 0830 tee time had the course to myself, bumped into a few members towards the end very friendly highly recommended. Lovely patio to sit in the sun to rehydrate. Absolutely amazing. A wonderful track, quirky yet fair. One of the finest settings in UK golf. Staff and members were courteous, friendly and very helpful. Great little club house, superb food and good range of drinks. Weather was great and certainly added to the occasion. Highly recommended, a must visit. Inexpensive green fee, buggy was useful although not essential. Will definitely return ! An absolute hidden gem set in the Shropshire hills. You will struggle to find a better course with that level of scenery and condition for the price; incredible. The course is short in length according to the score card but you have to navigate it so intelligently that it doesn't feel that way. Super quirky, highly recommend. Played for the first time today, staff and members couldn’t have been nicer, felt looked after from the second we turned up. Stunning course, amazing views, interesting holes, and quality fairways and greens. All for 25£ can’t really go wrong. What an amazing course! The landscape is stunning, the greens in excellent condition. This is the best course I have ever played, so unique, interesting and different to any other course. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. Can’t wait to come back. What a day at the course! We easily booked our round before turning up and went into the pro shop upon arrival. I have to say, seeing some past reviews had me scratching my head, because my experience with James Townsend, the Pro, was phenomenal. James provided service, politeness, and course advice that was absolutely first-rate. He's an incredible ambassador for the club, making us feel instantly welcome and prepared. His insight into playing the course's challenging elevation and clever layout was pro-level guidance that we really appreciated. That wonderful atmosphere continued into the clubhouse. Food was first rate, atmosphere amazing!
