Nice friendly pub serving good food This wonderful traditional pub serves great food in a warm and welcoming setting. It's been years since our last visit, which is a shame; we must visit more often. Roast meals were tasty and well presented. The deserts were equally deserving of praise. A great local venue. Great to catch up with close friends in Church Stretton while I'm in the UK from Australia & on Friday 08/08/25 my friends suggested we call into The Pound Inn & arrived just before 10am, we all ordered different meals & I couldn't resist the full English breakfast. The service was fantastic & food / drinks were delicious, meals served within a short time-frame & a very relaxing atmosphere to catch up with friends. We revisited The Pound Inn later in the afternoon for drinks & snacks. My friends often dined here & an excellent choice to dine in here. An excellent pub with a good range of cask ales. Went for a bite to eat on a Thursday evening and was just in time as the kitchen was closing at 8.15 ish so get there before this if you want to eat. The food was excellent and we went for the pie builder menu. The food was delicious and very filling as the portions were a really good size. On a weeknight I think last orders are at 10 so again be aware of the time when planning a trip. Would recommend and will go back when in the area. Fabulous home cooked meals with locally sourced food. Beautiful thatched roof, so pretty on the outside and just as great inside. Went with friends and everyone of us enjoyed our order. We all had different pies and they were full of meat. No complaints at all, great service would definitely recommend. If you’re on the A49 between Ludlow and Shrewsbury then this is the place for your breakfast. Excellent choice on the menu; drinks and food. Our server was so friendly and engaging. Brilliant. A lovely lunch dining experience during our first visit here today. Warm, friendly greeting from Emma upon our arrival. Promptly shown to a table and drinks order taken whilst we looked at the wide selection on offer on the menu. Although busy we only waited a few minutes before our order was taken and we had chance to enjoy our drinks before our food was served. Delicious food, lovely presentation and generous portions.
