What a beautiful place to visit. 12 of us went. Used boards and canoes. Hours of fun. Dogs allowed on leads. One couple thought they owned place letting dog run free. Scaring my neice. Move or put dog on lead. They moved. Didn't spoil day though. Very tidy. Place to get warm if needed after swimming. Cafe/ restaurant/pizza place/ ice creams . inflatable assault course and other stuff. Definitely visiting again. It is well worth booking in advance as got turned away as full. Beautiful and amazing restaurant. If you're going to here, then the changing facilities aren't great. Very adequate but best described as 'out-doorsy'.. but you have to go, the swimming is lovely. Had a walk around the and roast lunch on Sunday. Lovely place for activities. Lunch was overcooked unfortunately. place to go for a day out, boarding on the or let the children play on the activity centre . They have changing rooms, coffee shop and ice cream parlour . A good footpath for the mile long walk around the with plenty of benches to sit and admire. I've been coming here for quite a while. During summer it's a perfect place for wild swimming, however if the weather is good it can get quite busy. And there's a lot of alge getting everywhere. You can board, kayak or conoe if you wish. There are toilets and coffee shop. There's 3h parking but if you want to stay longer you need to pay. You need to pay to enter - it doesn't matter if you want to or just walk around you are charged. And I suppose I don't quite agree with it. I think access to all the lakes should be free. But on the other hand they hire all this including lifeguards so I suppose they earn money this way. There's also a summer festival with different bands. And during Christmas you can go to an iceberg which we did, see Santa or go ice-skating. Ice bar was an interesting experience. I think we paid £15 and we had 2 drinks included. You can choose from alcohol or alcohol free. I think the choice isn't but whatever is there is good. And you have 20 minutes to stay in -12 temperatures so hats, gloves and scarfs are a must. Again I think you need to experience it yourself before making a judgement. But it was OK . To say I found this experience disappointing is an understatement. From the moment we entered until when we left I don't think I saw any of the smile. As we left and walked past some of the serving nobody bothered to thank us for coming. While the place wasn't busy, maybe 30 to 40% full, the seemed lethargic and uninterested. 6 pounds and 50 pence for the granola breakfast was very overpriced and it was bland at best. My wife's breakfast arrived and the sausage and bacon with tepid. They tried to deliver an incorrect order to us. No one bothered to check if we were happy with the meal we had been served. The table next to us ordered a breakfast with 3 eggs and when it arrived with two eggs and they challenge this the went away and said there were no spare eggs. How can a restaurant serving breakfast not have spare eggs? The marquee seating area looked very rugged as if little carer had been taken for both it's finished and none of the seating or tables matched some of it look like it came out of an office. I don't know how to finish this review as I've never given a review this bad and I've have given a lot of reviews. While I appreciate this is just my personal opinion I feel that alderford appears on the outside to be of a high quality but cannot deliver on that promise. They have a very long way to go in both their kitchen food service and overall attitude before they match the majesty of the actual location. I left feeling let down and I shall not be returning anytime soon. It’s been to see this place grow over the last 10 years, what a difference! Fantastic amenities and a beautiful spot for enjoying open swimming, boarding and kayaks. Amazing bonfire and fireworks display. Loads of parking on the field - thankfully we hadn't had much rain so it was dry and easy to drive on. Great selection of food trucks to pick from, we had the mexican which was awesome. Fun fair had an ample selection of rides for our two year old daughter to enjoy. Lovely pint from the bar! Will definitely return next year. Had a lovely walk and lunch here. were great, finding us a table although we hadn't booked and it was very busy. Food was very nice and fresh and it was nice to walk around the and watch doing various sports. Visited for the Aquapaddle. A well organized / planned event. Good facilities. I didn't see any signs saying the cafe was table service, and couldn't see any menus on the tables, but we decided to go out to the coffee kiosk and get cuppa, which was much quicker. You get 3hrs parking, which is on an ANPR type system. are friendly. Worth a visit. Lovely swim. Not immediately obvious how to book just a on the website. This place is so brilliant the and everything around the I really did feel very emotional because it was my first wat amazed me was that I just got in and very much enjoyed every moment I shall definitely be back summer swims at here I come thanku sooo much I really wanted to stay a bit longer but had to get home food was amazing realy enjoyed my day Fireworks display was AWESOME. A slight delay to them starting but absolutely worth waiting for and the price of admission. First visiting and 100% will return. Place is immaculate, were cool and everybody seemed to be having a time. Really enjoyable evening. Fantastic place for family outings. Lots of activities and kind staff. Had a with my family Aqua is amazing what activity, and life guards were great, weather wasnt the beat but still an amazing visit - be even better on a hot day. Lake is beautiful and the boards looked fun but was a littlw cold after the aqua park, food and drink options there too. It's a beautiful place to go for a picnic with your children or grandchildren. Really enjoyed going on Sunday. Lovely cafe aswell Good facilities. Aquapark party booked for 11 yr old, all kids enjoyed. (Would have given 5 stars for this activity) BE AWARE , Parking was £5 for the day. DO NOT USE APP - 2 cars of the party have now been issued fines. I used app too but you can't find anything on the app to confirm payment, only my bank statement and this only showed day after. I am really disappointed that this has happened to parents taking their out to attend a kids party. 😠 Charged extra £19 service fee on top for booking the party package. I've never paid any such fee for a party package booking before and felt this was excessive & could be communicated better! We paid extra to book in our own paddleboards in the afternoon, this was good value. Good number of picnic tables were available. Kids enjoyed the little play too. Unfortunately, on arrival the IT system wasn't working well & struggled to find names & waivers for our pre-booked guests which led to delays and frustrated behind us in the long que! The food hut que was very long & once served was told the coffee machine was broken!! Happy the pre booked, hot party food was ready on time. Decent coffee was available in the main cafe. Despite the few niggles, we all had a lovely, memorable day. Very much hope to return in the near future but now put off and wary of car park. The prices you charge for a day pass is extortionate. I live in the district and you can wonder about any for with your dogs. I get the chargers for paddleboarding and park, I even get paying to as money can go to keeping of this facility, but charging £10 for me to walk my dog around what you all call a lake, while my kids can paddleboard is disgusting. Fantastic place to visit! Hands down! The hire of boats etc is a bit pricey, but once in the water, it’s a place to teach younger kids how to row in a canoe or kayak, food on site (chips, burgers etc) as well as cheeky lakeside drinks. The was lovely and clean, enough to ‘fall out the boat’ and have a good swim! People who go regularly were lovely and happy to talk to new and speak highly of this place. Would strongly recommend and cannot wait for our next trip! We had an amazing at the ice bar yesterday. Would highly recommend it is something completely different. We had to cancel at late notice before Christmas because of a parent being admitted to hospital and they very kindly changed to booking without charging us again we were very grateful and a lovely gesture thank you Brilliant beginners boarding session for my wife’s birthday. Beth was our instructor and she was extremely helpful and supportive throughout. Her tips and techniques made us feel at ease on the lake. The session was for 2 adults and 2 children aged 8 and 12 starting with basic instruction and finishing with some fun games and a race. We all loved it and having never even stepped onto a board before we progressed within the hour and a half session to be all able to stand and navigate around the confidently. Looking forward to visiting Alderford again as the cafe and facilities were excellent and this caters for pretty much everyone’s requirements. Lots of happy and friendly throughout which helped our first visit become an easy and thoroughly enjoyable experience It was an amazing place for a swim. Totally beautiful, I loved it. It was nice not to be limited in the water, although at this of year I can’t stay in for such a long time. easter egg hunt, grandchildren loved it, duper friendly 😀 Visited Alderford today with the family during our holiday. Absolutely fantastic day out. Pre booked online and all the information was clearly stated online and had no issue getting into anything or issues with queus. My cousin forgot her flip flops so went in the cafe to look for some. were very accommodating and helpful and told us where to go and we got some no problem. I was worried it would be busy and it was but hardly noticeable with the amount of space and had plenty room to mooch about and plenty of benches to sit on and the was very refreshing. Also went on the aqua park. A simple process and safety briefing and even tho it was only an hour it felt a lot longer than that and the was worth it as it was lot harder than it first looked and the and lifeguards were very helpful around the course. Someone even helped pull me out and had some funny interactions with on the course in my session. Didn’t hear a bad word from anyone with some shouting it’s absolutely fantastic and the kids around were loving it and getting stuck into the course. My grandma came with us but dint go on anything and she said she didn’t feel left out and had a day laughing at on the obstacles and interacting with other watching along with her. We took our own food and drink so didn’t bother with buying any, only thing i will say it seened very expensive for what it was. In response to the stupid reviews on here regarding interaction and food. It’s a very busy location and don’t have to see to everyone and treat you like you are important because frankly you are probably not, they are very helpful and accommodating when required. If you want 5* food and customer service go to a proper restaurant like the shard where you will get that kind of service. This is a place where you and go on an aqua it’s not for 5* food and interaction as it’s simply a place where you and go on an obstacle course. Absolutely no issues at-all even parking being for 3 hours and getting in and out was no bother and there was plenty of facilities to hire equipment boarding and canoes. Also included toilets and changing rooms and a cafe with a few takeaway sections for drinks and burgers/pizza. We loved it and will 100% recommend and plans for a return in the future are already underway.
