According to the French National Geographic Institute, the geographical of the European continent is located about 25 km north of Vilnius. This is currently one of eleven locations claiming to be the of Europe, but the only one with an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records. Since 2004, the has been marked by the monument by sculptor Gediminas Jokūbonis, which consists of a white granite column surmounted by a crown of stars and a large grey granite compass rose. According to one definition, this is the geographical center of Europe. It’s located just north of Vilnius, in the outskirts of a golf course. It would have been funny if the exact center was made into the 18:th hole. Alas it is not. So you probably know immediately if you want to go here or not. It’s a fun talking point, not that interesting in itself. A selfie spot more than anything else. What you’ll see is just a not that impressive pillar and of all EU nations. Why they only show union I do not know. I guess they’d prefer not to have the Russian flag waving here. Getting here is easy, but I was somewhat confused by the last bit. Just follow the left path along the stream and you’ll find the place. There’s a small hut here with a coffee machine. Apparently you can also buy a €3 certificate proving you’ve been here. That service was not available when I visited. This is an interesting place to visit and an easy drive from Vilnius. Its worth a visit if you are going that way, but would not make a special trip as we did. The visitor is only open at certain times, so its best to check before going if you want to get a souvenir or certificate. Not sure I believe it’s the of Europe however. But its officially here and if you take the full Europe continental plate, which includes parts of Russia, it makes sense. But I think including the Canarias throws it off a bit. There is a monument for the and of all the countries. I found this interesting as I have done all of Europe except Belarus. It does not have all the I would have expected. The sign has also been covered in stickers. You would think they would clean this down. There is also nothing else in the immediate area. I love it how it on the of the forest but it little bit hard to get there without your own car But I love the view and the look of the stones i mean it is interesting, but in middle of nowhere, if you don’t have that much time it’s not worth it☝🏼but still nice to experience that🤝🏼 Really nice plece, few minutes outside of Vilnius. There's a free parking place just by the road, and next few hundred meters you walk by the little river. In the information center you may grab a coffe in a bar, or equip yourself with leaflets and brochures in few languages. Really nice lady working there! The park and the monument is beautiful. Many of many countries. There is a small gift shop which online states opening times. Upon my visit, it was closed. Maybe due to being winter but it was showing open on the internet website. It takes maybe ten mins To visit. I suggest you get a car to go there as Uber will drop off but will not pick you up. A few buses from the city stop here and pick up but are rare. It is beautiful to visit. I flew my drone above to get photos. The place itself is nice and in quite place surrounded by trees and golf court. There is a map with information and of European countries. There is also a cabin where information center should be but it was uinfortunately closed when we arrived (end of September).
