Both spots are really worth it and only about 5 minutes apart. Very friendly service, and even when it was crowded they tried to find us a spot, especially on the terrace. Inside it’s cozy and wooden, with a fireplace – nicely balanced between modern and traditional. Outside there’s space for kids: a small playground, balls, mini goals for football, and even a badminton net. Food is high quality, with both local specialties and more universal options. Good wine at very fair prices and solid craft beer. Definitely a place worth returning to. Parking is also easy here, plenty of spaces available. This have been by far the best meal that we had during our trip in Slovenia. It is a short menu but all local food well prepared with ingredients of high quality. So first of all, judging by the quality of food I have a hypothesis that Slovenians must really hate vegetarians. Back to our experience at the restaurant. I have to say this opinion is merely based on the food, the service was very welcoming and friendly. We ordered all the vegetarian options on the menu. The biggest disappointment was the stuffed courgette. It came with a silly fine dining wannabe garnish of a turnip lego like piece floating on a pudle of beet root sauce along with some dehydrated carrot shavings. I can’t say there was anything salvageable about these vegetables. If you think about it, it just all started with a bad idea. There is one thing that vegetables surely don’t lack and that is water, so the choice to put the courgette on a clear borscht like sauce was a no go. As vegetables clearly lack fat, a butter based sauce could go a long way. Moving on to the ‘veggies’ side dish. It was a few carrots, cauliflower and broccoli seasoned with salt and thyme. Except the fact that the carrots were wilted, there was nothing wrong with the rest. What Im trying to say is that it was edible, but do we really dine at restaurants for ‘edible’. Without getting into too much detail, the rest of the dishes were at a similar level. Judging from the overall rating of this establishment, I guess the meat dishes are very good, which I have no doubt about, but why serve vegetarians something below average. I did leave the with an overall feeling of being scammed - the interior, service and opinions built expectation for good food, regardless of my dietary choices but as it turns out as a wegetarian you are doomed. My only critique is that the fried chicken dish had not as much balance as everything else we ordered.
