Show One hour up to the top, looking over the quiries. with the old Land Rovers through the huge mountains. Knowledgeable guides also with very good English. Small group of just 6 people in the car. Well organised and definitely to recommend if you are interested in the business there with a lot of information provided. Un’esperienza da non perdere per salire in vetta con le jeep e farsi raccontare l’unicità e la specificità del marmo e delle Alpi apuane! This was very interesting. First, must know that is long, windy Road to get up to the Carrera site. We took a small bus through a deep dark tunnel and went inside the cave, where we saw how they mine the marble. It’s extremely and educational. Fascinating way to spend 45 minutes! The of Carrera Mine is a fantastic and here is what to expect for preparation. The is 2 plus hours. Getting there you travel along very steep, dusty and bumpy roads. You travel in the guides Range Rovers and some have reviewed the ride negatively. This is the only way to get there! The ride is part of the adventure. You are in high altitude and half the is outdoor, so bring sunsreen. Bring water too. Along with dusty roads there is dust which will get on your clothing and shoes, so a change of clothes is handy. You will see the operations above ground and under ground. While you tour, heavy machinery is operating within 15 feet of you, so be aware. The will keep you safe, but you will be amazed to be this close to the workers the marble. This is an and immersive of the operations today and understanding the operations through history. Highly recommended. Spectacular! A gigantic man-made cavern cut out of a solid white mountain. The mind of man designed cutting cables, saws, and drills to remove enormous blocks of white from the inside of the mountain. The -- even though completely underground -- is reached by a long tunnel that completely penetrates the mountain. Did I mention spectacular? And amaizing? Truly. The was impressive. Our explained the process of the and gave a lot of history. We were served a small meal and wine at the restaurant as part of our tour. I did not care for the lard, but the salad and other items were delicious. The two ladies at the restaurant were working very hard and really trying to ensure we had a visit. This was a and I do recommend it, unless you have a fear of heights. tour. Definitely need faith in your driver on the way up and down. explained the process of pretty well but there isn’t too much to explain. This is one of two tours here where one goes inside the and the other (this one) goes up it. Very tour. You get access to the top of the and a view of the process. The drive up the is pretty cool, the interacted for about 30 mins, we took some photos then drove back down. Only 15 euros so price for an additional look at the beauty of Carrara. Oh yeah the guy in the snack venue where you buy the tickets is really ignorant and treats you like you are the dirt off of his boots, but thats part of the Italian charm Amazing experience. The history provided by the Carrara workers gives all the necessary information regarding the work in the mine and the overall process of extraction. As a person without knowledge of the Italian language, I was positively surprised by the possibility to hear everything in English. Groups are gathered in small cars of max 4 people which makes it more comfortable. This made my day! I suggest to get up early and get to carrara and ask for tours directly its less complicated and you can ask question depeding the you want. We did the one inside the cave wich is amazing!!! they told me how to get the in the 4x4(car) I recommand this one too since the views are breath taking ( if you are hungry there is also a small cafeteria)… beautiful experience. It's a experience! I repeat it every year and it's always fun and This was OK, cool to see the sheer magnitude of the mountain, but guides were very uninterested, our driver did not speak to us.. we were put in with a large group of 28 so one spoke to us all. Only 1 stop at the top of the mountain, and then back down again.. we did this and the Marmot cool to do both but the Marmot company was a far superior tour.. if you can do both great... if not do yourself a favor just pick the Marmot tour! We were lucky, because the day we went, there was a group. This attraction is not available after 31st of October normally. We had to wait hours, but it was worth it, because the was lovely, and he had knowledge about mining. A unique experience. A wonderful place where you can even see the place where the stone is cut and even see the trucks that take the blocks to be processed or directly to sale. And the view is phenomenal. If you get here, I recommend you to climb with the geeps Vale cada minutos, y espera. We went to this with our kids . We enjoyed the off road trip to top of mountains and then the explained a lot things about the mountains and how is getting cut. The mountains are really huge and you realize it from the machines which appear tiny from top. Highly recommended for those with any interest in Carrara and the artwork it's been used for over the ages! We were driving, so while the place was a bit challenging to find and make it to, it was totally worth it! The four-wheel drive up the side of the was enjoyable, and the itself was mesmerizing! A knowledgeable showed us all the equipment they use at the and attempted to explain the size and scale of the operation--which is enormous! Also surprising was the trouble it takes to move the once it's cut because it's so unbelievably heavy! At just $15 euros for a 90-minute tour, it was totally enjoyable! The spoke excellent, clear English, explained everything at a comfortable pace, and happily answered questions. It costs €15 per person — keep in mind it involves a ride uphill, some fascinating stories and insights about extraction, and then a ride back down. You won’t be driven around to multiple sites or on machinery, but it’s still a very engaging and worthwhile experience. Esperienza assolutamente da provare. Molto preparati gli accompagnatori. Panorama mozzafiato Very nice excursion, with a professional explication and a ride up into the quarry. Well spent 15€.
