We visited a few years back and loved it, but it's not as good now. The restaurant feels dull, and the decor is outdated. I'd prefer dining outside with the horse. The food was decent, but I think the restaurant could use a makeover. A little TLC would go along way. Bin those tablet cloths! What would Gordon R say. Great little "Local" pub within the grounds of the Dunbrody Country House hotel open to non-residents too. Traditional Irish pub with pub food (an alternative to the fine dining in the house) open late for music evenings at the weekend. There's also a complimentary Safe-Home shuttle bus for local visitors back to Arthurstown, Duncannon, Ramsgrange & Ballyhack. **The Local at Dunbrody** is a lovely spot with plenty of charm. The setting has a rustic, old-school feel that makes it cosy and inviting. The staff were genuinely warm and welcoming, which added to the relaxed atmosphere. The food was tasty and satisfying– nothing overly fancy, just good quality dishes done well. It’s the kind of place that feels authentic and unpretentious, perfect for a casual meal or a drink with friends. A really nice experience overall, with just a few small touches that could make it even better next time. Added a side trip to Dunbrody while visiting Europe just to have some gourmet pub food at The Local. Fabulous fish & chips, well worth the drive down from Dublin. This pub is amazing!!! A converted stables/carriage house on the grounds of Dunbrody House, the food is top class, the drinks always taste good and the service and atmosphere are always 5 star. The best food we've had in Ireland hands down! Amazing! My wife had fish and chips - amazing! The peas were marinated in such a special marinade that it added an amazing unique taste to the whole thing. The chips were fried in such a manner that even when a bit cool, they still retained that puffy , tasty texture. Amazing! The salmon and vegetables were amazing, and so was the pork dish, so soft , succulent and tasty. The veggies were made to perfection, and the mash - the mash was magic! Highly highly recommended, thanks everyone for such an amazing experience! Loved this place. Pat is a great host. We will be back! Thank you. Staff nice ordered fish & chips they weren't nice we asked why the fish batter was so hard and they said it was because they use cornflour instead of regular flour..... That was it... They didn't ask whether we were happy or unhappy.. (we were disappointed) Myself and my family had dinner in The local this evening. Food was fabulous. Pat looked after us so well. Absolute gentleman. Couldn't have done enough for us. Beautiful little Pub. Great spot. Cosy, traditional pub feeling with delicious food. Many of the dishes were/could be made gluten free. Service was great - staff were friendly and attentive, while never making us feel rushed. The crumble made with apples from the garden was a highlight. Looking forward to visiting again.
