Very impressive at the side of a small road between fields. We just could take a short look due to an opening for an organised group because we were off season. So be sure to check opening times. Amazingly preserved. A must see. It's open - spetember '18. Worth a visit. 200m further is next tomb. One of the most exciting archaeological discoveries win this part of Greece in the past few years. This is close to Phillip tomb. However, this is a separate done from about the same time. If you are lucky, the local guide will be there to explain this to you. The frescos are exquisites. More interestingly, is the iconography The 4 panels here ( which include a judgement ) parallel the 4 panels commonly seen in Byzantine churches.I really recommend you spend the night in the beautiful local town and try the great local wines. Personally a great experience! The young guide showed us beautiful works of art that are not normally seen. I am very grateful for this unique experience. Thank you! Mieza is on the ancient path to Pella. This is one of 5 Macedonian tombs around and an ancient theater, close too of the Aristolteles school of philosophy where Alexander the Great studied when young. To all this wonderful archaeological site the easiest way is travelling to Naousa and from there by taxi, about 7 km. Aristolteles school is closer, about 3 km. The is free. The whole Mieza site should have more promotion. I understand most tourists come for few days and the tours will take you to the ancient Makedonia Kingdom capitals, Vergina and Pella. Understandable too since were the heart of the Kingdom and the museums there are true historical jewels. Mieza archaeological site is close to Naousa, about 25 km from Vergina. But sure if you love ancient history you'll find a way to it, until maybe one day, personally I hope soon ☺️ tour operators will manage to add a visit, even if is a bit more expensive. Though this is the of Judgment review my advice is starting in the Aristolteles cultural centre next to where is the Ancient School of Philosophy. The staff there is great and will help you. I add a pic of Aristolteles School. It’s hard to describe the beauty of this monument. Its size, the harmony among the elements, the amazing frescoes… it’s simply breathtaking! You can it for free, the guard is very helpful and can give you a lot of additional info! Astounding! What a super suprise, a beautiful monument full of history. The custodian was really nice, answered our questions and took us by foot to a second tomb. So great and local guide was there to open for us. Second just amazing: we were literally standing next to the tomb’s entrance and could see inside..frescos with colors preserved..just mind blowing Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
