The Tempelmuseum Frauenberg is located on the summit of Frauenberg about 2 km west of the present city of Leibnitz and immediately west of the Baroque pilgrimage church. It is dedicated to the sanctuaries of the mountain, which have been here since the time of the Celts. During archaeological excavations, a Roman cult district was discovered whose main temple was dedicated to the goddess ISIS NOREIA. On the foundations of the vestibule of this temple today stands the newly designed temple museum. As early as 6500 years ago, Stone Age farmers left their mark. At the time of the Celts the Frauenberg gained supraregional importance as a religious center and with the Romans it became the most important cult district of the city Flavia Solva. In late antiquity, a refugee settlement was built on Frauenberg, which included an extensive burial ground and an early Christian church. Today, the neighboring pilgrimage church is the religious center of the mountain. The museum guests can look forward to two exhibition rooms with numerous finds from around 70 years of excavation activity on the Frauenberg with the permanent exhibition "Der Frauenberg - a millennium for millennia". Documents of a 6500-year history - statues, inscriptions, coins, grave goods, architectural parts of temples and early Christian churches - are shown in museum. The spacious outdoor area with seating and lying area invites you to arrive, to take a deep breath, to let your gaze wander into the distance and to get in the mood for a museum visit of a special kind. The best collection of celtic coins in all Europe Splendido sito.
