I was told about Kapinga bar/café and decided to pop in here on Christmas afternoon as it said it was opened. Not many places were and as their ratings were 5 stars, I set off and with Google maps soon found it up in the hills after Ansião, central Portugal. From the moment I walked in, Pedro (Peter) and Sofia (Sophie) his wife welcomed me with a huge smile and "Ola"/hi. This couple and the proprietors have a most wonderful bar café and it felt warm, cosy and friendly. The locals were too. Kapinga reminds me of a good local pub back home....lovely wood and exposed brick walls and very clean toilets too.. They do Tapas or finger food and the inside is amazing, decorated with UK and USA signage arts and bits and the MTV music on the telly is better than a sports bar. Thanks Pedro and Sofia for a place and experience and will definitely try to pop in before I leave this central Portugal area. Recommend this cafe bar and Pedro's English is very good which helps those that don't speak Portuguese. Open on Wednesdays and over the weekend Excellent and hosts, fantastic selection of beers, wines and spirits. Good music and atmosphere, always a crowd frequent the bar. Serves a burger but you MUST order in advance and have an empty tummy (because they are big). Hosts speak very good English and always have a welcoming smile to greet you. Had a wonderful time here. The food was amazing and I'm not exagerating it was the best meal I have had in Portugal. We were looked after by the lovely owners and when we left we knew we have to come back here. If you are anywhere near I strongly advise to check this place out. Best bar. Pedro is tirelessly helpful, always smiling and offers such a fantastic experience. Good music, atmosphere. The burgers are incredibly tasty too! Very bar with a variety of drinks. Excellent burger, Just try one! We went on a Sunday and it started to get busy around 2.30pm, but not too busy. Worth a stop if you are in the area during opening times. Excellent local bar with the best Burgers , also does vegetarian Burgers So happy to have found this lovely welcoming bar. The staff are nice people and it is well known in the area for the relationship between people from the UK and the bar. If u ever visit the area, make sure you go there. Also it is a place where you can listen to good rock music and still chat with your friends and the decoration is really nice.
